As a Purchasing Director, you will lead a pivotal function and serve as a key collaborator with project management, engineering, and suppliers. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven procurement professional to make a tangible impact, enhance department efficiency, drive vendor partnerships, and support the successful completion of major projects across the region.Responsibilities:Lead and manage the purchasing function for the assigned region, directly supervising Buyers and administrative support teams.Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors and subcontractors, including major equipment and subcontracts for projects up to $1,000,000.Maintain strong relationships with Project Managers, Sales Managers, Engineering teams, and key suppliers.Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance department productivity and efficiency.Review purchase orders and subcontracts for accuracy, compliance, and contractual integrity.Develop and monitor department KPIs, ensure compliance with policies, and create regular purchasing reports for leadership review.Facilitate weekly meetings to ensure timely processing of subcontracts and purchase orders, and to foster collaborative teamwork.Manage and resolve billing disputes, supplier performance issues, and back charge processes within the region.Must-Have Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related discipline (required or equivalent experience).5-7 years of experience in purchasing/procurement activities within the construction industry.Proven Leadership experience! Delegating through other leaders, etc.Proven track record of managing large projects and ensuring contract compliance.Strong knowledge of end-to-end purchasing processes, price negotiations, and vendor management.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.Proficient with MS Windows, Word, and Excel.Demonstrated leadership with experience supervising teams.Nice-to-Have Skills:Industry experience in HVAC or related construction environments.Experience with pre-bid buyouts, cost analysis, and bond review processes.Ability to drive process improvement and department compliance initiatives.Management experience in a construction purchasing department.Strong initiative, analytical problem-solving skills, and adaptability to changing priorities.
