Position Summary InformationPosition SummaryPurpose Scope & DimensionThe Director of Strategic Projects supports the successful execution of Mott Community College’s strategic priorities through high-level project management, initiative coordination, and cross-functional collaboration. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff, the Director serves as an institutional strategist, operations planner, and facilitator who can mobilize college resources and staff around the College’s goals.This position leads and coordinates special projects and strategic initiatives on behalf of the President and the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff, tracking project status, developing progress reports, and ensuring timely completion. The Director also supports high-level event planning and special assignments from the Office of the President and collaborates widely across the college to ensure smooth implementation of projects.The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, solution-oriented, and capable of working in fast-paced, high-visibility environments. This role requires a strong combination of project coordination, strategic thinking, and communication skills.Supervisory Responsibility: May supervise a work-study student as needed. No supervisory responsibility over full-time or part-time professional staff.Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.At least three (3) years of experience in project management, grant management strategic planning, event planning, organizational coordination, or a related role.Strong project management skills with the ability to develop and manage complex timelines and deliverables.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated success working across departments or divisions in a collaborative, inclusive manner.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and sound judgment.Experience with developing reports, managing projects, coordinating events, and using productivity tools like Microsoft Office, Asana, Smartsheet, Trello, or similar.Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.Additional Desirable QualificationsExperience working in higher education, public administration, or nonprofit institutions.Familiarity with executive-level communications, presidential offices, or strategic planning processes.Experience participating in or facilitating institutional change initiatives.Understanding of board relations, organizational effectiveness, and institutional governance.Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsMust be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.Must be able to travel across campus and to external venues as neededFrequent use of computers, phones, and office equipment.Occasional lifting of materials up to 30 pounds.Work ScheduleWork Schedule:This is a full-time, exempt position.
