DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATIONLocation: Mississauga, ONOn-site | Full-time | Asset-Based CarrierAbout the Opportunity Our client, a well-established transportation company based in Mississauga, is seeking a seasoned Director of Transportation to oversee and lead its entire transportation network. This organization operates an asset-based fleet serving local, regional, and US highway markets, providing reliable, high-quality service to a diverse customer base.As Director of Transportation, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the fleet, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations across all divisions. You will lead a team of dispatchers, planners, and drivers, driving operational excellence while optimizing performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day transportation operations, including fleet management, dispatch, driver scheduling, and cross-border activities.Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, safety, and cost control across the transportation network.Ensure compliance with all Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including MTO, DOT, and FMCSA requirements.Lead, mentor, and develop a strong team culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.Collaborate with maintenance, safety, and logistics departments to ensure seamless operational execution.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement initiatives that drive operational and financial results.QualificationsMinimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in transportation operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Strong understanding of asset-based trucking (local, regional, and highway).Solid knowledge of transportation compliance, including Hours of Service, ELD, safety, and cross-border regulations.Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and manage budgets effectively.Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.Post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration preferred.What’s OfferedCompetitive salary and performance incentives.Comprehensive benefits package.A leadership opportunity to influence growth within a respected and expanding carrier.Accommodation and Equal OpportunityMERE HR & Consulting and our client are committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplace where all employees and applicants are valued and respected.
