comThe RoleThe Disability Coordinator will work closely with the GEDSI Lead and the Disability and Social Inclusion Specialists to develop, implement, monitor and review Pacific Australia Skills Disability Equity and Rights Strategy. The role will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating and organizing specific tasks that are implemented under Pacific Australia Skills disability programs and activities. The Disability Coordinator will work closely with workstreams across Pacific Australia Skills, including the MEL, gender and partnerships teams and DFAT Posts to support the incorporation of cross-cutting development priorities and safeguards surrounding disability inclusion into all Pacific Australia Skills functions and activities.
The incumbent will establish, support and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders and grantees who engage people with disabilities to support them towards achieving mutual outcomes. This includes ensuring an understanding of Pacific Australia Skills services and initiatives among stakeholders and facilitating access to these services. Roles And Responsibilities With GEDSI Lead and Disability and Social Inclusion Specialists support development, implementation and monitoring of the Disability Equity and Rights Strategy.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including OPDs, CSOs, disability service providers and community groups and agencies by engaging in a range of communication channels including presentations, conferences, and on-site visits. Act as a point of contact to Pacific Australia Skills for stakeholders, liaising with them to advise and respond to requests, and facilitate an integrated approach to stakeholder support. Identify and leverage links to relevant Pacific and Timor-Leste organisations, networks, and programs for the benefit of Pacific Australia Skills and DFAT. Support learning and knowledge exchange activities (e. g.
, induction, training, workshops, information management systems) as required. Support the MEL team to ensure that disability inclusion is embedded into MEL systems and frameworks. Gather information on trends and issues in the disability sector. Work collaboratively with OPDs and CSOs and contributing to the development of proactive strategies and responses that contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of services provided. Proactively identify and approach disability service providers to establish new relationships. Selection CriteriaEssential Experience And Knowledge Tertiary qualifications in disability, international development, social sciences, or another relevant field.
Demonstrated experience in a similar role preferably across the Pacific and/or Timor-Leste. Extensive experience in disability policy, advisory or programming. Demonstrated understanding of DFAT priorities and development challenges related to disability equity and rights and how they apply in the Pacific region and Timor-Leste. Excellent communication, facilitation and coordination skills. Understanding of and commitment to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), prevention of human trafficking, environmental protection, anti-corruption and other DFAT safeguarding policies.
