In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown. Drill HelperThe Drill Helper plays a critical role in supporting drill operations by assisting the Drill Operator with daily tasks, maintaining drill sites, and ensuring equipment is clean and ready for use.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in surface mining operations. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist Drill Operators with setup, operation, and relocation of drills on the bench. Handle and prepare drill consumables such as rods, bits, and hoses. Monitor water and fuel levels and help refuel/replenish supplies as needed. Maintain clean and organized drill pads and work areas. Conduct visual equipment checks and report mechanical issues or hazards. Ensure all tools and materials are safely stored and transported. Follow safety protocols, hazard recognition practices, and site-specific procedures at all times.

Support other tasks as directed by the Drill Operator or Supervisor. Participate in daily toolbox meetings and contribute to a positive, safety-first site culture. Qualifications & Skill RequirementsEducation: Technical Certificate in Mining or related. Previous experience in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments is an asset. Physically fit and able to lift, bend, and work in outdoor conditions for extended periods. Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication, in EnglishAbility to communicate complex problems clearly – both written and orallyStrong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
