Helical Pile Solutions is a deep foundations contractor with over 30 years of experience in the industry, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. ("Java"). Java staff have over 50 years of experience building some of Canada's largest electrical infrastructure projects. Helical Pile Solutions Ltd. is seeking Drill Rig Operators to join our team based out of the Edmonton area, working on various projects throughout Western Canada. The Foundation Drill Rig Operator is responsible for the safe operation of various types of foundation drill rigs and construction equipment. You must have good safety awareness, good communication & competent decision-making skills, and a desire to perform requested duties with a focus on safety and appropriate precautions. HPS offers competitive wages and a comprehensive benefit package.RequirementsEssential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:Takes direction from Project Managers and Field SupervisorsExhibits pride in workmanship and an ability to execute all the duties of an Operator safely, accurately, and efficientlyComprehends the importance of dependability and consistency in a high-performance team environmentUnderstands the importance of worksite safety and manages field-level risks by undertaking the required steps of a Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA)Receives materials accurately when required by maintaining organization as well as properly completing the associated paperworkProactively manages worksiteSeeks out innovative ways to increase production and potential savingsMentors' junior positionsOperate equipment productively in all conditions including high traffic, remote or congested areas, as well as in all weather conditionsPerform equipment walk-around inspectionsParticipate in the Preventive Maintenance program for the equipment you operateMaintain HPS equipment in accordance with Government, Client and HPS regulations, standards, and procedures: safety; environmental; quality; contractualTroubleshoot mechanical problems, field repair minor fixes and communicate major issues with mechanicsProficiently operate any or all of core equipment, which includes Excavators, Loaders, and skid steer equipmentAble to operate Soilmec and Watson Foundation Drill Rigs safely and proficientlyOperate equipment productively in all conditions including high traffic, remote or congested areas, as well as in all weather conditionsRead and understand blueprintsMaintain and ensure high level of safetyCompletion and timely submission of daily required paperworkWork as a Team Lead on siteWork with others as a teamAbide by all HPS policies, procedures, rules and OH&S Act, Regulation & CodeEnsure a daily JHA, attend all safety meetings, toolboxRepresent HPS in a professional manner while on and off job sitesBe "Fit for Duty" including coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to lift 50 lbsQualificationsHigh school diplomaClass 5 Driver's License (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)Basic construction tools and quality assurance skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, outdoor construction environmentField safety tickets including First Aid, H2S, CSTS, Fall Protection, and Ground Disturbance are an assetThis is a safety sensitive position and will require candidates to comply with HPS drug and alcohol programWork EnvironmentConstruction environmentOutdoors, including travel to remote locationsExposure to loud noisesExposure to extreme temperaturesPhysical elements include bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, standing for long periods of time, lifting weights up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally with assistancePersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be always wornFast paced with tight deadlinesAccommodations while on a project are arranged by HPS in either a camp setting or hotel as determined by project requirementsShift workWork schedule may varyAbility to work out of town for extended periods of time BenefitsExtended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision)Group RRSPGroup Life - AD&D - Critical Illness InsuranceTraining & DevelopmentEmployee Assistance Program - Counseling
