How are you?” he asked the President, who used hand gestures to respond to him from his special tent.“Thank you. Praise the Lord,” Mbabazi replied with a hand gesture. I tell you that Museveni has led us for a long time, and we went through many severe hardships, and he has led us well,” he stated.Mbabazi also informed the crowd that former Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda was not able to be with them at the rally because he had lost someone.“But he has also told me to give you a message of sticking with Museveni because for us, we are witnesses,” he told the crowd in Rukiga.“We are telling you that Museveni is a leader who knows what to do. He has led us through mountains and overcome many problems. So, don’t abandon the one you have and run with those you don’t know,” he added.Mbabazi, who also ran against Museveni in the 2016 general election on an independent ticket and lost, implored the NRM supporters in Kanungu to reclaim their first position for giving the incumbent president the highest number of votes, come 2026.The Speaker praised Kanungu residents for consistently supporting the incumbent President, whom she credited for restoring peace in Kigezi and across Uganda.“Your Excellency, the people of Kanungu are very excited to receive you and have promised to give you all the votes in Kanungu,” she told Museveni.“We want to thank you for providing €140m for the Hamurwa–Kerere road, and that road is going to be worked on. We also want to thank you for providing sh310m to the tea sector, and the money is going to be paid to the people,” she said.Museveni wrapped up his campaign trail around Kigezi. He will Thursday (November 27, 2025) take his vote hunt to the districts of Isingiro and Ntungamo.
