The role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing DWDM networks to ensure top-tier performance and reliability. The network spans 70,000 km across Europe, North America, and Asia, serving over 2,300 wholesale customers in more than 125 countries.About The RoleThe role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing DWDM networks to ensure top-tier performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will effectively manage complex network projects from inception to completion, working closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors.ResponsibilitiesLead DWDM network implementation projects, overseeing all phases of the network buildDevelop comprehensive project plans, defining timelines, milestones, and resource requirementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including network planners, field engineers, and vendorsMonitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategiesEnsure project completion within established scope, budget, and timelineCoordinate with engineering, planning, and colocation teams for site-related requirements (space, power, network management, DCN ports, and transport backbone capacity)Design and configure DWDM network solutions based on customer and business requirementsDeploy, configure, and test DWDM systems, including hardware and software componentsDiagnose and troubleshoot DWDM network issues, ensuring rapid resolutionPerform network performance optimization and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practicesMaintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network designs, test plans, and configuration guidesGenerate and present project status reports and updates to stakeholdersEnsure all network changes adhere to established change management processesAct as the primary point of contact during network implementationCoordinate with vendors for procurement, service delivery, and troubleshootingRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical fieldProven track record in DWDM network design, implementation, and project deliveryHands-on experience with DWDM technologies and equipment from vendors like Ciena and InfineraStrong understanding of optical transmission principles and technologiesFamiliarity with network protocols and performance management toolsSolid project management experience with large-scale network deploymentsProject Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plusStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAdditional InformationAt Tietoevry, we believe in the power of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
