EHS Manager role for a leading international manufacturing company within a multi-$bn global group. This single site, standalone EHS position offers stimulating challenges, scope to proactively drive further improvements and excellent career progression opportunities.The OpportunityMotivated by the highest possible stakes of climate change and global health, at Hach (www.hach.com), a Veralto company, we’re working together with customers to find innovative technologies that guarantee the safety of our water and our environment.Reporting to the European Senior EHS Leader in Belgium, the EHS Manager is a hands-on role with responsibility for supporting our Cork facility (~100 staff across R&D and manufacturing) in the development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with Local Regulatory and Hach/Veralto requirements.The EHS Manager is based 5 days a week on-site, which operates Mon-Fri, 7am to 3.30pm (albeit the jobholder has some flexibility to determine their start/finish times). This position represents an excellent opportunity to be part of a market-leading global company and help drive further positive EHS performance at our Cork site.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance within Hach / Veralto policies and procedures, along with all local governmental EHS regulationsConduct regular walk-throughs (Gemba) of the plant to look for unsafe acts, conditions and to coach and mentor associatesCoordinate incident investigations with effective root cause investigation and counter measure implementationLead EHS related kaizen events to drive improvementsFacilitate and lead Plant Safety Committee and sub-teamDrive sustainability improvementsAttend regular Hach Global EHSS meetingsDirect, develop, and deliver environmental health and safety training programs to ensure employee’s knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulationsReview proposed new chemicals, chemical processes, equipment, machinery, new buildings, etc. with the use of the Management of Change processDevelop and execute actions to create, reduce and sustain the EHS risk assessment scoresDevelop, implement, and coordinate all Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic activitiesEnsure all EHS issues identified during internal/external audits have corrective actions implemented and communicated in a timely mannerDevelop, implement, and maintain site-specific programs that comply with corporate policy and programs and complete monthly safety reportsManage EHS management programs including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/reductionFocus on leading EHS indicators to drive long term improvement goals including human behaviourWork with facilities in the contractor control requirements and property risk recommendations from FM Global The Ideal Candidate>3 years successfully developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS systems, ideally in a fast-paced, results-driven, manufacturing environmentNEBOSH/IOSH Diploma or equivalent health & safety qualification and a comprehensive understanding of Irish EHS regulationsExperience in implementing and managing EHS related ISO standards such as ISO45001 & ISO14001A proactive, solutions-focused mindset – ‘always a step ahead of risk’ and a passion for developing people and building a culture of safety and sustainabilityExceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing skills to advise senior internal/external stakeholders and spearhead effective change and improvementExperience in managing/handling compliance issues, permitting, manufacturing operations, EHS and Environmental programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keepingDetail focused and data-oriented problem solving & reporting skillsComfortable to undertake a hands-on approach with some EHS administration and filingLean manufacturing and/or six sigma knowledge desiredAbout Hach Motivated by the highest possible stakes of climate change and global health, we’re working together within a rapidly digitizing industry to find innovative technologies that guarantee the safety of our water and our environment.
