Electrical Design Engineer

Crone Geophysics & Exploration Ltd. of Mississauga, Ontario, has been manufacturing quality geophysical instrumentation for mining exploration since 1962. We are seeking a full time Electrical Engineer. As an electrical engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of low noise induction coils, B-field sensors and feedback coils for portable Ground Geophysical Instruments for both surface and borehole surveys.Key responsibilities include:Design, develop and test geophysical instruments with suitable ruggedness for operation in a geophysical survey environment.  Work within project goals and scheduled milestones. Perform schematic entry, PCB layout, design calculations, simulations, prototyping and bread-boarding.  Lead and mentor shared resources assigned to the instrument projects from first concept to manufacturing.  Perform tests (some field) and evaluations for design validation and qualification.  Support the repair & field survey managers on instrument testing, field issues and equipment training.   Qualifications:Must have experience with the design of low noise induction coils and B-Field sensors.                    Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent in education.  PEO License, or eligibility for licensing as an engineer in the province of Ontario Minimum of 10 years of related design experience.Experience with feedback coil design and shielding techniques.Experience with B-field sensors (SQUID, Fluxgate)Experience with small signal analysis including noise measurements. Experience with roll, dip and azimuth measurements and corrections to orientation.Mixed circuit design experience including instrumentation amps, Op-Amps, D/A, A/D, interfacing with micro-controllers, sensing and calibration techniques. Experience with DSP techniques and FPGA design.Experience with schematic entry, PCB Layout, and simulation tools (PADS, PSPICE, Mathcad, or similar).  Must have Good oral and written English communication skills.Must have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency Card.We thank all the applicants, but only the selected candidates will be contacted.
