SBM is currently seeking a Design Intern to work with our engineering staff in the Electrical division of our London office for 16 months starting in May 2026. The Electrical Engineering Intern will assist with the design, analysis, evaluation, and implementation of electrical systems for a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional building projects, including power distribution, photometrics, lighting systems design, building controls, emergency power, fire alarm, and data communication systems. Our team of over 130 dedicated experts—including engineers, trainees, technologists, planners, and support staff—thrives in an energetic environment where creativity and collaboration are at the forefront.If you're eager to grow and make an impact, SBM is the place for you!Key Responsibilities:Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with electrical engineeringPreparation of electrical engineering design and documents ensuring accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the design requirementsCoordinate with other team members on various projects at the same time to achieve project milestonesAccept technical guidance from designers, engineers, and senior staffWork within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completionCoordinate Electrical aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawingsSkills / Qualifications:Completed three years towards a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited Canadian University, or equivalent, and enrolled to complete the Degree.Eligible for a 16-month co-op / internship registered through your post-secondary school.A good understanding of building system design is considered an assetExperience in power system design and/or construction considered an assetExperience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code, and other applicable Canadian Engineering standards would be considered an assetProficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suitesExperience with Autodesk Revit considered an assetEffective written and verbal communication skillsEffective team memberCommitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learnAdaptable and flexible to changing prioritiesStrong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizationCapable of working on and/or managing several projects at the same timeAccess to reliable transportation for travel within Ontario, primarily London and surrounding area.What We Offer:This is a full-time temporary, in-office position.
