Job DescriptionEngineer Fire ServicesSECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLETo administer fire station and its related operations, as well as ensure availability and operability of various fire safety equipment and vehicles in order to control and mitigate fire safety incidents as per the established fire safety policies, processes and standard operating procedures.List of responsibilities attached to the role are documented below. These responsibilities are representative and the role holder is also responsible for any other job assigned by the superior authorities from time to time. It should capture only the key responsibilities of the role.SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLEResponsibilitiesPolicies, Processes and ProceduresConduct & follow established fire safety policies, processes, standard operating procedures and maintenance and integrity programs to provide assurance of the fire safety servicesKeep self abreast with leading practices and trends in order to contributeAssuranceCarryout investigation of all fire safety incidents, conduct root cause analysis and identify action plans to avert future fire incidentsAssist in plant level fire safety audits and implement suggestive measures to bridge identified gapsMaintain & evaluate the Risk Assessment (RA) sheet & make necessary modifications therein to assure adequate fire prevention measuresOrganize and conduct daily fire drills to ensure effective response in case of fire emergencyOperationsRecognise potential escalations/hidden hazards and apply fire fighting strategies for a given process, tank farm or marine emergency scenario as applicable to area of workProvide immediate response to emergency calls, exhibit incident command & control technique, and ensure mobilization of resources for emergency control and mitigationUtilize appropriate firefighting equipment and techniques, and liaise with various emergency responders and incident commander for effective emergency managementPrepare training modules/programs and organize fire awareness training to fire executive/site employee to enhance awareness/capability pertaining to fire safetyEnsure availability and reliability of all firefighting equipment, vehicles, and communication systems at all fire stations on ready to use basis to avert any fire incidentsReport non-compliant cases and implement suggested measures to minimize non-complianceMaintain log book, occurrence book and other shift related documentation to ensure adherence to fire safety compliancesKNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIESEducation QualificationsBachelors of Engineering in Fire or Diploma Engineer / Bachelors of Science with Station Officer Course / Grad I (IFE UK / INDIA) / Sub Officer CourseFUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIESHigh level of proficiency in Fire Safety ManagementApplication and make use of different firefighting equipment, consumables, systems and other resources management for effective emergency ManagementGood understanding about SAP system and its various transactionBEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIESTeam work, Delegation, Communication and Time management skillPlanning and decision making
