Job Description

The RoleYou will join a multidisciplinary team working on a large and exciting AAA game for consoles and PC. We create and support a variety of systems, content, and pipelines at ACT III, and see improvements in many of them with the application of Machine Learning algorithms. We would like to explore that further.Your internship will focus on ML models and smart use of GenAI. We welcome your own ideas to be brought to the table, but also have various ideas for applications in animation (muscle and skin deformations, picking poses in conversations) and world creation (generating content and procedural content placement algorithms).At ACT III, we solve interesting problems as a multi-disciplinary team, not as individuals. Your immediate surroundings include highly skilled individuals from animation, art, and engineering. You would work within that team to explore ML and GenAI solutions to real production problems.ResponsibilitiesTrain and improve existing models, or design new ones. Generate training data variations from game assets.Design prompts for LLMs or multimodal models.Integrate ML models and GenAI into game development tools.Collaborate with animators and artists to improve their game development experience and help them create high-quality content.Troubleshoot and debug issues together with the team.Share your knowledge with game development professionals.RequirementsYou’re working towards a degree in Computer Science or similar at a UK university (or have already graduated), or have equivalent professional experience.You’re curious and confident with Machine Learning and Generative AI, understanding both the theory behind them and the practical steps needed to design and train your own models.You have worked with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.You have confidence in your C++ skills.You are motivated to apply your ML skills to a AAA game project.You like to communicate and collaborate with the team, and are motivated to learn new skills from others, be it technical or creative.You are happy to work from our office in Brighton & Hove to collaborate in person.It’s a Bonus if you HaveUniversity or private projects involving Machine Learning or Generative AI.Experience with Unreal Engine.Experience with ONNX to export models and running them efficiently in tools/runtimes.Internship DetailsRemuneration £30,000 (pro rata)Start Summer 2026.
