Role: FPSO Engineering ManagerLocation: Yantai, ChinaOpen to Malaysian candidates willing to relocateSummaryA leading global energy engineering organisation is seeking a highly experienced FPSO Engineering Manager to lead the full technical design, integration, and execution of a major FPSO development. This position demands strong leadership, deep technical mastery, and the ability to drive performance across a large, multi-disciplinary engineering organisation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring design integrity, project compliance, and seamless technical coordination across all interfaces.Key Responsibilities1. Technical CoordinationProvide end-to-end technical oversight for FPSO topsides and hull design. Ensure seamless design integration, effective interface management, and strict alignment with client specifications, classification requirements, and industry best practices.2. Technical Governance & Critical Decision-MakingLead high-impact technical decisions, evaluate design risks, and develop optimised engineering solutions. Safeguard project safety, quality, and compliance through strong technical governance.3. Design Schedule & Resource ManagementEstablish and manage the comprehensive project design schedule. Strategically allocate engineering resources, track progress, and ensure timely achievement of project milestones (including model reviews). Guarantee the delivery of high-quality design documentation.4. Technical Communication & Stakeholder ManagementServe as the project’s principal technical authority. Engage with clients, classification societies, and key subcontractors to address and resolve complex technical challenges and ensure alignment across all technical stakeholders.5. Team Leadership & CollaborationLead and inspire a large multidisciplinary engineering team. Foster collaboration across internal and external technical groups to ensure efficient project execution and timely delivery of engineering outputs.Requirements10+ years’ experience in the oil & gas sector with strong exposure to FPSO design and execution.Successfully completed at least two full FPSO topside projects, including one project in the capacity of Engineering Manager overseeing a team of 50+ engineers.Solid FPSO shipyard experience, with strong understanding of construction workflows and on-site technical issue resolution.Prior involvement with international FPSO contractors is highly advantageous.Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural leadership abilities.Proven track record of delivering under pressure and meeting critical project milestones.Multi language, capable of leading international technical meetings and producing high-level technical reports.
