Location OverviewJoin our team in Amangalla. Amangalla lies within the ramparts of Sri Lanka’s 17th-century Galle Fort, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Offering views of the Fort and harbour on one side and the hotel’s lush gardens and swimming pool on the other, the historic residence presents lofty-ceilinged suites, elegant dining and a tranquil Aman Spa complete with Hydrotherapy Suites.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise, schedule and lead the engineering & maintenance team to ensure all facility systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, fire safety, building fabric) operate reliably and safely.Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and guest disruptions.Respond promptly to corrective maintenance and emergency breakdowns, coordinating with contractors and internal stakeholders as required.Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, building codes, fire & life-safety standards and brand-specific maintenance standards.Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, tools, equipment and ensure vendors/contractors meet service-level expectations.Conduct inspections of guest-area mechanical/building services, reviewing condition and planning refurbishment or replacement work.Work closely with other departments (Rooms, F&B, Housekeeping, Spa, etc.) to coordinate maintenance around guest operations and minimise impact.Maintain accurate documentation: daily logs, checklists, maintenance reports, equipment history records and status updates for the Chief Engineer.Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or equivalent vocational qualification.Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a hotel/resort engineering department (luxury hotel experience preferred).Hands-on experience with building services systems: HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, fire & life-safety systems.Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills; able to lead a team and interface with senior management.Good command of English (verbal & written); ability to produce clear technical reports.Excellent problem-solving ability, proactive mindset, ability to work under pressure and during out-of-hours as required (weekends/holidays/shift coverage).Knowledge of maintenance management systems, ability to prioritise tasks, and understanding of hotel guest-centric operations.Familiarity with Sri Lanka’s regulatory and safety environment in hospitality or building services is a plus.What We OfferCompetitive compensation package & service charge aligned with market for luxury hospitality.Opportunity to work in a prestigious property in a renowned destination.Career growth and development within the Aman group & brand environment.Staff benefits including meals, uniform, training.A dynamic work environment where engineering excellence supports a premium guest experience.
