Our English Team plays a key role in delivering Subtitling, Dubbing, and Audio Description services, working hand in hand with project managers and a global network of freelance talent to deliver exceptional content on time and to the highest standard. With offices in Sheffield and Los Angeles, we take pride in our core values of Communication, Teamwork, Accountability, Efficiency, Quality, and Diversity—principles that guide everything we do.As an English Editor in the Subtitling team, you’ll be responsible for creating, reformatting, and editing captions and subtitle templates for a wide variety of video content. Using ZOO’s innovative internal software, you’ll ensure every project meets our rigorous standards of accuracy, consistency, and style across all media formats. This role calls for an exceptional command of English grammar and style, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners, maintaining clear communication and ensuring every deliverable reflects ZOO’s commitment to quality.Day-to-day responsibilities will include:Creating, reformatting, and editing captions and subtitle scripts for a wide range of video content.Demonstrating flawless English grammar and style to ensure the highest-quality translations across subtitling projects.Identifying and correcting errors in spelling, punctuation, syntax, and formatting, while ensuring consistency with individual clients’ style guides.Applying strong writing and editing skills to produce clear, accurate, and engaging content.Managing tight deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.Communicating effectively with ZOO project coordinators, subtitle operators, and a global network of freelance partners.Collaborating within a supportive, team-focused environment to achieve shared goals.Maintaining exceptional attention to detail and ensuring all outputs meet ZOO’s high standards of quality and client-specific requirements.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, friendly, and diverse team, where your skills will help bring stories to life for audiences around the world.Requirements:WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?To thrive in this role, our English Editors combine a creative flair with a genuine love of the English language. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with fast and accurate typing and confidence using Microsoft Office. We’re ideally looking for candidates with a background in English – preferably a university degree in English, Journalism, Linguistics, or a related field – along with the following skills and attributes:Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional listening skills.Strong research ability – confident using search engines to verify facts, names, and terminology across a wide range of topics.The ability to perform well under pressure, meeting tight deadlines with accuracy and minimal supervision.A proactive, flexible approach, capable of managing multiple projects at once.Confidence working both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team.The ability to understand and communicate complex or technical topics clearly and accurately.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn and adapt to new software and tools.Previous experience in subtitling, dubbing, audio description, or editorial work would be an advantage, but it’s not essential — full training will be provided.Other information:WHY CHOOSE ZOO?Our technology is constantly evolving, so there’s never a dull moment with ZOO!
