You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.A Day in the LifeAs an EHS Specialist, you are responsible for deploying and establishing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures in alignment with country regulations and Medtronic’s standards. You will conduct comprehensive workplace and task-specific risk assessments—including ionising radiation, ergonomics, manual handling, driver safety, fire safety, PPE, biological agents, and chemicals—for both onsite activities and field-based operations.Based at our Jette office and reporting to the EHS Manager, you will provide EHS support to office-based and remote employees, as well as field, sales, and service/repair professionals who regularly operate in hospital environments across the Benelux territories. There may also be opportunities to support EHS activities outside of this region, depending on business needs. The position comes with a part-time contract, with a work schedule of 2.5 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, extra half day to choose from).Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:Provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of key EHS risk programs, including driver safety, ionizing radiation, biohazards, emergency preparedness, employee preventive medical examinations, and ergonomics. Ensure these programs comply with regulatory requirements, align with Medtronic EHS Standards, and support EMEA and Corporate strategies and initiativesImplement a targeted health, safety, and environmental risk management program to identify, assess, and control illness and injury risks, minimize environmental impacts, and meet local regulatory requirementsServe as the Prevention Advisor for the Belgium Commercial organization.Partner with Medtronic sub-regions, business units, and functions at all organizational levels to provide EHS technical expertise and foster a positive EHS culture, including support for regions outside BeneluxCollaborate with relevant external agencies—such as Fire Services, Health and Safety Authorities, and Environmental Agencies—and internal stakeholders to integrate EHS into business processes and decisionsFacilitate EHS engagement and communication through regular EHS and health committee meetings, active involvement programs, management reporting at both corporate and local levels, newsletters, and other communication channelsExecute compliance-based tasks, including conducting effective incident investigations and root cause analyses, participating in EHS audits, and implementing remedial actions within agreed SLAsRequired Knowledge and Experience/Must have:Possess a relevant qualification, such as a NEBOSH Certificate, EHS accreditation, a degree in Engineering or Science, or an equivalent EHS certificationSolid working knowledge of EHS and Risk Management legislation and principles, with experience in local and/or regional EHS regulatory compliance and practical application of EHS programs, including emergency preparedness, ergonomics, and employee health checks.Minimum of 2 years’ EHS and Prevention Advisor experienceFluency in both Dutch and EnglishAt least 2 years’ experience delivering trainings and presentations, working on projects, or developing project management skills. Candidates must also be highly computer literate, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPointExtremely organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, prioritize workload effectively, adapt to a constantly changing environment, and demonstrate an outgoing, friendly, and ‘Can Do’ attitudeFluency in French is highly desirable.
