Job Description
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Licenses, inspects, and regulates licensed facilities.Provides varied professional public health work in the inspection offood, lodging and recreational facilities and the investigation andresolution of environmental complaints, nuisances, and hazards, underthe supervision and authority of the Environmental Health Manager.Essential Duties Inspects establishments and activities covered bycounty ordinances and State of Wisconsin regulations. Consults withoperators regarding code requirements. Oversees the Tourist Rooming Homeprogram and the TNCWS well water program. Responds to public requestsand inquiries while on department intake. Performs Lead HazardInvestigations as assigned including collection of samples. Issues leadabatement and interim control orders as necessary. Participates in ICSresponse when needed. Secures samples of water and other materials.Provides education and information on environmental health matters tolicensed facilities and the public. Obtains or collects environmentalsamples and operates a variety of monitoring or testing instruments.Maintains current, adequate records of all activities, samples, timeallotment, etc.; prepares reports. Composes and directs correspondencerelating to activities. Assists sanitarians or the laboratory technicianas required. Interprets codes, determines compliance enforcement, issuesorders under the direct supervision and authority of the EnvironmentalHealth Manager; provides testimony at hearings and court appearances ifrequired. Consults with medical professionals, veterinarians, lawenforcement, code enforcement officers, and others in a professionalcapacity. Coordinates meetings and conferences pertaining to areas ofresponsibility; attends meetings or conferences as required.Participates in training and exercises /drills to prepare for andrespond to public health threats in accordance with county anddepartmental emergency response plans. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performsrelated functions as assigned. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Water testkits Computers Propane torch Field Communication Devices A dependable,insured personal automobile/vehicle for daily use is required.\*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess one of thefollowing: 1. A baccalaureate or higher degree in environmental healthfrom an accredited college or university and completed at least 30semester or 45-quarter hour academic credits in environmental, physical,biological, chemical, or environmental health courses. 2. Abaccalaureate or higher degree in physical or biological sciences froman accredited college or university and completed at least 30 semesteror 45 quarter hour academic credits in environmental, physical,biological, chemical, or environmental health courses. 3.
