Job PurposeThe ESG Manager – Operations is responsible for implementing and continuously improving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives across the organization’s operational portfolio, including both legacy and new assets. The role works closely with Technical, Asset Management, and Owners Association teams to embed ESG best practices in operations, energy management, audits, and stakeholder engagement to ensure sustainable, compliant, and efficient performance.Roles, Responsibilities & Duties1. ESG Operational Strategy DevelopmentDevelop and implement an ESG operational strategy aligned with the organization’s sustainability goals.Translate ESG commitments into measurable operational objectives, KPIs, and performance indicators.Integrate ESG principles into daily operations, maintenance practices, and long-term planning.2. ESG Audits and AssuranceDevelop comprehensive ESG audit frameworks covering environmental performance, energy efficiency, waste management, and social responsibility.Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with ESG policies, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.Identify gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.3. Energy and Utilities ManagementLead energy management programs across legacy and new assets.Monitor utility consumption and implement efficiency initiatives to reduce environmental impact and operational costs.Collaborate with facility teams to enhance resource efficiency, renewable energy integration, and waste reduction.4. Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Asset Management, Owners Association teams, and other stakeholders to ensure ESG alignment across functions.Provide technical ESG input during asset lifecycle management, including maintenance, upgrades, and refurbishments.5. Design Review and Development SupportSupport the design review process by assessing submissions for ESG compliance and sustainability opportunities.Recommend design enhancements to improve alignment with ESG frameworks and future operational performance.6. Handover and Post-Handover ManagementSupport asset handover processes by ensuring ESG requirements and documentation are embedded and transferred effectively.Develop and implement post-handover audit programs to evaluate tenant and occupier compliance with ESG guidelines.Engage with tenants to promote sustainable operations and reporting.7. Policy, Procedure, and Framework DevelopmentDevelop and maintain ESG policies, procedures, standards, and operational frameworks.Create ESG compliance frameworks for service providers and contractors.Develop training programs and workshops to build ESG awareness and capabilities across teams and partners.Skills & CompetenciesStrong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and environmental compliance standards.Experience in energy efficiency projects and utility optimization.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.Effective communication and stakeholder engagement across all levels.Ability to develop policies, training modules, and audit systems.Solid project management and reporting capabilities.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Achievement of ESG targets and operational KPIs.Completion of scheduled ESG audits and compliance assessments.Demonstrable improvements in energy efficiency and carbon reduction.Effective stakeholder engagement and training execution.Successful implementation of ESG policies and frameworks across operations.EducationBachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Facilities Management, or a related field.Preferred CertificationsCertified ESG Practitioner / ESG Analyst (CFA ESG, GRI, SASB, or similar).ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification.LEED / BREEAM / WELL Accredited Professional (advantageous).Energy Management Certification (CEM or equivalent).Experience & Competencies8–10 years of progressive experience in ESG, sustainability, or environmental operations (real estate, FM, or infrastructure sectors preferred).Strong expertise in energy management, sustainability auditing, and policy implementation.Proven ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams within complex, multi-asset environments.
