The ministry is accountable for the long-term planning of provincial public infrastructure to support key social programs and services and economic development. It designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and health infrastructure meets the needs of all Albertans now and in the future. Role Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Partnerships & Learning Facilities, the Executive Director, Alternative Project Delivery, is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Branch's senior managers and multi-disciplinary professional team accountable for developing and delivering P3 school capital projects across Alberta.The Executive Director identifies and sustains effective and collaborative relationships with consultants, contractors, other ministries and jurisdictions to proactively identify and leverage infrastructure opportunities and to coordinate responses on key issues that advance Alberta's infrastructure interests. With a continuous improvement mindset, the Executive Director will advance the province’s alternative delivery program, leveraging innovative commercial, technical, and project management approaches to improve outcomes for Albertans.Working closely with the senior leadership team, the Executive Director ensures alignment with the Department’s Business Plan and contributes to cross-government capital planning and strategic initiatives. The Executive Director translates ministry priorities into meaningful direction and plans for the branch, w hile cultivating networks across government and with external stakeholders to support and enable the branch’s work.QualificationsAs the Executive Director, you are a highly credible and innovative leader with a record of accomplishment in infrastructure planning, design, and delivery. Y ou have developed your leadership skills and systems-thinking abilities, and have extensive knowledge of alternative project delivery methods. You are a strategic and proactive problem solver, with extensive change management experience. You are confident in leading a highly motivated, dynamic team of experts and have a track record of building collaborative relationships, securing consensus-based decisions and managing diverse projects and complex issues. Your background includes extensive experience in project management and delivery, contract administration, engineering, construction, and/or operations and maintenance and rehabilitation. You have a sound understanding of policy development, government approval processes and a track record of building successful alternative partnerships. A respected leader of people, you are committed to building strong lines of communication and trust, empowering your teams to achieve results through performance excellence.A bachelor’s degree in engineering, commerce, or a related field is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
