Facility Manager (Top Secret Clearance Required)Boston, MA (Hybrid)$120- $130K + BONUSAbout the RoleA leading commercial real estate asset and investment management organization is seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee operations for 2 buildings serving a federal government tenant. This role requires a strong communicator who can operate confidently within government environments, manage building operations through onsite technicians, and ensure rigorous adherence to lease terms, codes, and compliance requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Operations & OversightOversee day-to-day facility management for a single government-occupied building.Partner closely with building engineers/technicians who handle systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, and general building maintenance.Ensure all building systems, services, and vendor activities meet operational and tenant expectations.Conduct regular site visits and interface with federal agencies as needed (hybrid role; travel is local to the site).Government & Tenant RelationsServe as the primary liaison between ownership, the government tenant (GSA), and internal leadership.Maintain strong, consistent, transparent communication with federal agency representatives.Navigate government processes, approvals, and timelinesPush back professionally when required, ensuring fair and reasonable compliance with the lease and service level expectations.Lease Administration & ComplianceBecome the subject matter expert on the building’s lease, including scope of work, cleaning frequencies, maintenance requirements, and service standards.Ensure flawless execution of lease obligations and landlord commitments.Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local building codes, including fire and life safety requirements.Assist with documentation, reporting, and adherence to government protocols.Team LeadershipProvide leadership to 2–3 building technicians.Set clear expectations, coach performance, and foster a culture of accountability and responsiveness.Ensure smooth workflows and effective communication among the technical staff.Vendor & Work Order ManagementOversee vendor activities related to electrical, plumbing, landscaping, HVAC, and other facility operations.Validate that all contractor and vendor work aligns with the lease and meets safety/regulatory requirements.Required Qualifications8–10+ years of facility management experienceExperience overseeing building operations within a commercial real estate environment.Management experience leading building engineers/technicians or similar staff.Strong background in lease administration, particularly interpreting and executing scope-of-work requirements.Solid understanding of federal, state, and local building codes, including fire/life safety.Ability to work effectively with government agencies and handle complex approval processes.Active Top Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain onePreferred QualificationsExperience managing or supporting government facilities.Familiarity with GSA processes, procedures, and communication frameworks.
