You will be responsible for:Day to day care of children and young people,Providing emotional support to vulnerable children,Coordinating transport to and from appointments and activities,Working in an Oranga Tamariki family home providing meal preparation, helping with homework, and maintaining a comfortable nurturing environment.This is a casual opportunity; shifts will come up on an as and when basis to cover periods of absence and annual leave for our caregivers. You get to choose shifts that suit your own work / life balance and preferences, whilst contributing to positive changes in the lives of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau in our community!Depending on the availability of the successful candidate, the role may suit someone who only wants occasional work, as much as someone who wants more frequent hours of work.Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bringWe are looking for candidates with:Passion and resilience to manage and support children and young people with varied needsPositive attitude and role model along with an enthusiasm for your workProven or some experience in caregiving, community work or working with young peopleUnderstanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' cultureBehaviour management / conflict resolution skillsHave a calm and professional mannerExcellent, listening, oral, written and observation skillsMust hold a current full clean driver's licence - (Restricted licence okay as long as you have this prior to starting in this role) as you may need to drive fleet vehiclesAbility to pass the background checks, which includes police and Oranga Tamariki vetting (The clean slate does not apply to this role)Provide professional references from current and previous employersNōu te rourou | What's in it for youWe offer a great supportive team, flexible work options and a genuine commitment to wellbeing.
