We are actively focused on expanding both tax-exempt and taxable farmland investment products and are structured to scale rapidly and efficiently from our current $210mm+ in AUM.The team has decades of institutional experience in ag, farmland, and food investing, having previously deployed over $2B into this asset class. Position Summary: The Investment Manager’s primary responsibility will be sourcing investment properties, with the secondary responsibility of managing a small portfolio of farmland assets and maintaining & developing relationships with farming operators. This role requires a deep understanding of investment analysis, farmland operations, agronomic drivers, and the ability to assess and implement sustainable and responsible investment practices.Key ResponsibilitiesSource great investment opportunitiesOriginate publicly listed and off-market farm deals. This will mean spending a good deal of time on the road / in the air visiting properties, doing diligence, and meeting with 3rd party intermediaries (brokers, lawyers, farmers, growers, operators, input dealers, etc). The right candidate will have a strong deal maker mindset. Develop a wide network of relationships with new operating partners and deal origination channelsConduct comprehensive analysis and diligence to develop an informed view of value and risksIn collaboration with the team, prepare a detailed financial model and an investment presentation Present & defend the opportunity to the investment committeeOversee a team of technical consultants to conduct full due diligence With assistance from the team and outside legal counsel, lead the deal through all stages of the escrow and closing cycleIdeal candidate will have significant experience in permanent crops Ideal candidate will be based on the West Coast or be willing to relocateManage farmsOversee our on-farm operators and operationsRegularly visit the farms, walk the fields, and prepare written reports with photos.Under the guidance and supervision of our Head of Farm Management, manage multiple farms through the full investment cycleDeploy best-in-class farm management strategies to optimize farmland performance and returns, ensuring sustainable and responsible investment practices Collaborate with the FarmTogether Innovation Labs initiative to assess and implement cutting edge agtech Ensure top financial and agronomic performanceMinimum QualificationsBA/BS in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics or a highly analytical field5+ years of relevant experienceSolid financial and writing skillsUnderstanding of permanent cropsExperience or willingness to learn managing an acquisition from the contract stage to closingIndependent worker with a passion to work in the agricultural investment industryHighly motivated, entrepreneurial, strategic minded, team-oriented candidates with proven underwriting, valuation analysis and closing deals experienceDemonstrated ability to cultivate new business relationshipsCompensation: $110,000 - 130,000 base salary, plus bonus and equity in the company.
