Fashion – Product Design – Assistant

Role Overview The Fashion – Product Design – Assistant supports the development of apparel, accessories, or lifestyle products from concept to final sample. Working closely with designers, product developers, and merchandising teams, this role provides both creative and operational support throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include assisting with research, sketching, technical packs, material sourcing, sample coordination, and communication with suppliers. This position is ideal for detail-oriented and creative individuals who have a strong interest in fashion design, product development, and industry trends.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in creating design concepts, sketches, mood boards, and trend presentations.Conduct research on seasonal trends, fabrics, colors, silhouettes, and competitor products.Support the development of technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.Prepare and update tech packs, ensuring accurate measurements, materials, trims, and construction details.Coordinate sample development by communicating with vendors, tracking sample progress, and organizing fittings.Provide feedback during sample reviews and help document revisions and design adjustments.Collaborate with product development teams to source fabrics, trims, materials, and components.Maintain organized archives of materials, samples, and design files.Assist with color palette development, fabric boards, and collection overviews.Support communication between design, merchandising, production, and quality teams.Help prepare materials for internal presentations, line reviews, and product meetings.Contribute to quality checks of prototypes and pre-production samples.Update internal databases and design systems with product information and revisions.Qualifications and RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Product Development, or a related field.0–3 years of experience in fashion design or product development through internships or entry-level roles.Strong creative skills with proficiency in sketching, rendering, and visual presentation.Knowledge of garment construction, pattern-making, fabrics, and production processes.Proficiency with design and digital tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar software.Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.Good communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.Strong organizational skills for handling samples, materials, and production documentation.Ability to work in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and seasonal deadlines.Passion for fashion, product design, and staying current with industry trends.Summary The Fashion – Product Design – Assistant plays a vital role in supporting designers and product teams in bringing creative concepts to life.
