Job DescriptionThe Finance Associate will provide operational accounting support for Vave Underwriting Agency Inc, and Vave Digital Services Ltd as well as reconciliation activities between the Vave entities and Group Accounting. This person will support and document processes for the application of cash received from product partners and the settlement of commissions and net premiums with introducing brokers and capacity partners.This role will require attention to detail, an understanding of accounting and reconciliation processes and strong communication skills. This person will be expected to assist in the enhancement of efficient processes and controls in an environment that is increasing in volume and complexity.This person will need strong communication skills to work with internal resources as well as distribution and capacity partners. This is a critical position that will represent Vave to outside parties in addition to ensuring our ability to process cash activity and perform internal and external reporting.ResponsibilitiesDevelopment and on-going ownership of processes for premium collection and commission and premium settlements. Track daily bank activity across premium trust accounts Take ownership of processes for reviewing allocation of funds received from product partners Provide accounting entries for recording of daily cash activity to Group Accounting Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and control of the cash receipt and technical insurance disbursement process. Follow up with product partners on cash receipts that differ from expected amounts. Communicate with Capacity providers to alert them to issues regarding monthly premium settlements. Work with Vave Analytics Team and Distribution to understand commission structures. Develop activities and controls to test integrity of information provided by Vave Analytics Team and Product Partner Reporting. Be power user of premium reconciliation tool. Financial Reporting Review general ledger activity monthly Engage with both UK and US based colleagues to maintain consistency, share knowledge, and compile group-level results. Assist in the preparation of Vave financial reporting and support inquiries from Group Management. Ad Hoc projects as needed Acquire knowledge of compliance requirements with US regulatory authorities to alert and support management to changes and potential exposures to non-compliance by Vave and its product partners. Develop key metric reports for management to measure efficiency and profitability of the business. Financial Management Support the budget process and monitor actuals results against plan. Work across the Vave Team to update periodic forecasts of results. Support cash forecast functions to project cash collections amounts and cash outflows. External Relationships Build and maintain strong working relationships with key external stakeholders including vendor partners, agents/brokers, and policyholders. Qualifications Accounting experience: 3-5+ years in operational accounting, preferably with an MGA or broker. Commission Accounting: Experience working with commission-based revenue groups. Regulatory and Technical Knowledge: 2 Years’ experience working in an insurance organization with a basic understanding of insurance products and concepts. Execution-Oriented: Experience transforming finance operations in a fast-paced environment.
