Fractional GM / COO (Manufacturing)

Our client is a well-respected manufacturer of beauty and cosmetic products in the US, dedicated to transforming the industry using sustainable practices - one stroke at a time.They are seeking a patient and worldly Fractional GM / COO with extensive operational and SC leadership experience in the beauty and cosmetics industry, especially in China. Candidates from FMCG and consumer electronics are also welcome to apply.In this role, you will act as a strategic advisor and mentor to the company's senior manufacturing executives - upskilling and refining their capabilities across sourcing, procurement, NPI/NPD, operational excellence, digital transformation, logistics, distribution, and demand planning.Please note that this is a FRACTIONAL, PART-TIME consulting position that may require up to 80 hours per month - possibly more. It is not suitable for candidates who intend to maintain their full-time employment simultaneously.Fluency in Mandarin, and professional working fluency in English is REQUIRED.This position can be FULLY-REMOTE, although there is a very strong preference for candidates who are already based in China and able to travel easily within the country.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:You will advise on the following and more:Global supply chain strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and market growth plans.End-to-end supply chain operations including sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, demand and supply planning, logistics, and distribution.Development and implementation of strategies for cost optimization, efficiency improvements, and supply chain resilience.Supplier performance management, ensuring quality, compliance, sustainability, and ethical sourcing standards are met.Global demand and supply planning processes to balance cost, service levels, and inventory targets.Managing global manufacturing and contract manufacturing partnerships to ensure capacity, quality, and scalability.Compliance with regulatory, trade, and customs requirements across international markets.Implementation of digital tools and advanced analytics to enhance visibility, forecasting accuracy, and decision-making.Continuous improvement and best practices across global supply chain functions.NPI/NPD execution, cross-functional team building, and developing rapid prototyping capabilities to ensure scalability.Talent management of high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.REQUIREMENTS:At least 15 years of progressive experience in manufacturing and global supply chain management - with 5 of those years in senior leadership roles.Previous background in beauty, cosmetics, or personal care products is strongly preferred. FMCG and consumer electronics are also acceptable.Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or WCM.Must have Asia-centric manufacturing experience, especially in China. Custom manufacturing background is also a major plus.Proven track record of leading strategic transformations, cost optimization, and building teams.Deep knowledge of global supply chain regulations, compliance requirements, and international trade practices.Proficiency with digital supply chain tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms.Ability to navigate US - China cross-border business culture flexibly and with grace.Fluency in Mandarin, and professional working fluency in English is required.Bachelor's or Master's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
