Job Description
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our operations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, driving business performance, operational excellence, and exceptional guest experiences. The role oversees all aspects of hotel operations, including financial performance, team leadership, and brand standards, while ensuring alignment with corporate goals and local market dynamics.This position requires a hands-on leader with strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and engage diverse teams in a competitive hospitality environment.Profitability Prepares marketing, operating, CAPEX/Spec R&M plansPrepares monthly forecasts for the balance of the year, including Marketing Plan, P&L and cash flowMonitors and analyses P&L statements and forecasts to optimize profitabilityEnsures the productivity initiative contributes to the long-term success of the HotelEnsures that effective fiscal controls are in placeOrganizational DevelopmentCreates unity of purpose and leadership skills throughout the organisationLead the team and develop short, medium and long-term business strategies to fulfil the Hotel’s Vision and Mission and provide mechanisms to track progressEnsures that Hotel employees are committed to a common set of values to provide the foundation for relationships and decision-makingEnsures that the Hotel has a functioning relevant policy manualCreates an environment where teamwork is encouraged and recognized as the desirable style of achieving superior performanceProvides an environment where creativity and innovation are recognized/rewardedSales and MarketingActs as leader of the Hotel’s Marketing and Sales initiativesParticipates in and approves the Hotel Marketing Plan and reviews with the DOM quarterlyDevelops/Leads customer focus groups/advisory councilsGuest SatisfactionProvides leadership in developing the culture of a customer-driven organisationDevelops “voice of the customer” tools to track guest satisfaction to be shared with employeesHuman ResourcesProvides staff facilities that are the “envy of the industry” and review benefits and services with HR to ensure high quality/continuous improvementCreates data to ensure meeting/exceeding internal customers’ expectationsEnsures implementation of effective systems for awards and recognitionEnsures compensation is fair in the market while attracting/rewarding the best peopleEnsures that employees have every opportunity to provide their knowledge/expertiseCommits to the long-term localisation of key positionsEnsure that the Hotel develops, implements and monitors the succession plan and the individuals identified thereinActively pursues effective communications throughout the organisationImplements/monitors programmes to ensure a healthy management/employee environmentImplements performance appraisal system(s) to optimize Hotel performanceProvides the mechanisms for the organisation and the individuals to develop and increase their competenciesMeetingsConducts and attends GM meetings, Quarterly Operations Reviews, EXCOM Meeting, Department Heads Meeting, Profit & Loss Meeting and Daily Morning BriefingEnvironmental Awareness ManagementImplements and supports an Environmental Awareness ProgramEnergy ConservationInitiates and monitors Energy Conservation Program to ensure minimum energy and utility consumptionAsset ManagementEnsures the safety and quality of the building, facilities and services to complement the image of the HotelEnsures the Hotel has a Crisis Management Plan that is reviewed with key positionsImplements preventive maintenance plans for the Hotel to ensure asset preservationProposes and implements capital investment plan(s) to maintain/upgrade facilitiesOwner RelationsMaintains effective communication with ownersSupplies information on key issuesMaintains pro-active contact to provide updatesAttends Board Meetings as requiredExperience and SkillsA track record of working in a fast-paced businessExtensive team leadership experience with strong leadership capability and the ability to inspire and motivate at all levels.A strong team player with the ability to build strong relationships across a global business with a range of key stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across cultures and organizational levels.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
