Why Should You Apply?We offer medical, dental and vision coverage and up to 8% 401-K match and up to 8% annual bonus!Paid vacation, sick and holidays, tuition assistance, commuter benefits!Professional and educational development opportunities!Job ResponsibilitiesMaintains vigilance for unusual or suspicious individuals or situationsMonitors and operates the surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection equipment and ensures its functionality by promptly reporting issues and getting those resolved at the earliestLearns and stands any of the assigned posts, which includes foot-patrol and standing outdoors for long periods of timeResponds to emergency situations; administers first-aid as requiredAssists in evacuation and crowd control in the event of an emergencyResponds to fire, safety and security alarms following set protocolsActs as a trusted point of contact for personnel, students, vendors, and the publicMaintains vigil and patrols the campus while providing a visible presenceInforms management on safety and security related matters, utilizing logs, email and verbal reportsDirects and/or escorts visitors and vendors as neededAssists in special events and tours organized at/by the instituteLogs observations regarding security, safety and maintenance related issuesContacts/coordinates with local law enforcement agencies when necessaryOperates emergency equipment as neededAble to stay focused, attentive, alert and engaged at all timesListens and communicates calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non-emergency situationsEmploys good judgment and sound decision-making at all timesOther duties as assignedRequired Competencies:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Intermediate computer skills, including experience with current Microsoft applications (e. g. MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.

)Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications (used in physical security operations)Aptitude in learning how to do basic troubleshooting while operating/monitoring surveillance, access control and intrusion detection equipmentAbility to write and type clear and concise reportsGood comprehension ability and logical thinkingAbility to operate security communication equipmentAbility to act with urgency and calm in an emergency situationExcellent judgment aptitude with a solid ability to detect imminent or looming threatsAbility to identify and resolve conflicts in an effective mannerBasic problem-solving skills including identifying, understanding and resolving the problemsAbility and willingness to follow standard operating proceduresExcellent communication skills including effective listening skillsPolite and courteous demeanorAbility to adapt to rapidly evolving situations and prioritiesAbility to maintain confidentiality of informationEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceWillingness to work any shift and any days, including weekendsDemonstrated ability to create positive and professional interactions and maintain a good working relationship with colleaguesRequired Certificates, Registrations & LicensesMust obtain/renew California Security Guard License (at the time of hire)Must obtain/renew First Aid certification (immediately after hire)Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (CPR & AED) certificationMust hold an active Driver’s LicenseDesired/PreferredAbility and willingness to document process-flow diagrams and standard operating proceduresProficiency in MS excelKnowledge and experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions planningSecurity officer experienceExperience in CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and fire alarm handlingPhysical RequirementsTasks are performed both in a professional office environment and outdoors.
