Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for a Global Media Manager (5 month, January-May 2026) to join our global team.Team And Job PurposeTo obtain media coverage for Save the Children across the world, in particular our work saving children in humanitarian disasters. For a full list of locations that Save the Children International can hire in, please visit: SCI CareersTime Zone (that the role holder must be available to work in):Right to Work: The successful candidate must possess the unrestricted right to work in their current or preferred location for the duration of employment.Language Requirements: EnglishPrincipal AccountabilitiesAct as focal point for media management at time of humanitarian disasters, coordinating media responses across multiple countries.Collaborate across advocacy, policy and fundraising, often taking the lead in preparing external communication products that align divisions and reflect our key messaging.Hold overview of international media outlets, print, broadcast, and online and key influential regional outlets. Maintain a strong network of contacts with international journalists as well as identify and build key international partnerships.Respond to tight deadlines and work well under pressureSupport risk mitigation media work and strategy on reputational risk matters by drafting appropriate media lines, as necessary, and coordinating our response to global media colleagues as needed Regularly manage various stakeholder groups, building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues in country offices and member offices, globally. Liaise closely with Save the Children media across the world and develop strong, positive relationships.Contributing to the sound working systems of the Global Media Unit, across Save the Children, under the guidance of the Head of MediaBe available for ‘out-of-hours’ on-call media work, with the ability to be on call over weekends, and to be further available ‘out of hours’ to manage emergency and urgent situations, as necessary.EssentialExperience and SkillsSignificant experience as a news journalist or in a media and communications role in an international setting, with a track record of excellent media coverage. Excellent writing skills for press releases, media briefings, opinion pieces and the crafting of key messagesDemonstrable ability to work to tight deadlines, juggling several priorities at onceKnowledge of key international and child development and rights issues and debatesStrong knowledge of different needs for variety of influential international media outletsAbility to pitch stories persuasivelyExperience working in a complex organisational model (preferably at an international NGO), serving and working to multiple stakeholders at once and using influence to drive preferred outcomes Excellent knowledge of social media, including a track-record of working with or for news agencies to amplify news work on social channelsExperience project managing complex media outcomes across different outlets and across different countriesExcellent written and spoken English language skills.
