Graduate/Junior Food Technologist - No Experience Required!Location: Carlisle - CumbriaSalary: £30,000 - £35,000 + Progression and Development + TrainingAre you a recent graduate passionate about innovation and sustainability in the food industry? We’re looking for a Graduate or Junior Food Packaging Technologist to join our team in a fast-paced, multi-category food manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise in packaging materials, design, and compliance — while playing a key role in ensuring our products are safely, efficiently, and sustainably packed. Over time, you’ll grow into our in-house expert on food packaging technology.What you’ll do:Support the development, testing, and implementation of new and existing packaging materials and formats across multiple product categories.Work closely with suppliers to ensure packaging meets functional, quality, and regulatory standards.Conduct packaging trials and performance tests to validate material suitability for processing, transport, and shelf life.Assist in investigating packaging-related non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.Maintain accurate documentation for packaging specifications, approvals, and change control.Collaborate with production, engineering, and technical teams to optimise packaging for sustainability, efficiency, and cost.Stay up to date with packaging legislation, materials innovation, and emerging trends in sustainable packaging solutions.What we’re looking for:A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline, with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the food industry.Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.Experience within industry is beneficial - Training providedGood analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply scientific thinking to real-world challenges.Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and positive attitude.Willingness to learn, develop, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.Why join us?Be part of a collaborative and innovative technical team.Gain hands-on experience across multiple food categories.Develop your career in a business committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.If this is of interest, please apply with your CV and a member of our team will get in touch!
