Job OverviewThe Senior Manager – Finance P&C develops and establishes departmental standards, guidelines and objectives for all P&C Finance teams. He/ She will develop reporting and monitoring systems to ensure the appropriate level of governance and control over financial reporting and accomplish strategic objectives, maintain control of assets and fulfill regulatory compliance. Additionally, he/ she acts as the point person for all IFRS initiatives and leads the implementation of same within the Business Unit. He/ She will also manage the operational relationships with and be the point person for communication with all Regulatory bodies and Rating Agencies.

The incumbent will perform the roles and responsibilities outlined for the Group Property and Casualty (P&C) operations, (Trinidad, Jamaica, Grenada, Barbados, Overseas territories)Job Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership Develops and executes financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives. Provides financial insights to the CEO and Board to support decision-making. Develops and deploys key metrics to measure and evaluate the performance of P&C companies. Leads financial planning, forecasting, and risk management initiatives.

Coordinates and directs the preparation of financial forecasts (weekly Flash), budgets, and analyses and reports on variances to the President, VP Finance, Group CFO, Group CEO and Board of Directors to optimize financial performance. ii) Develops and implements the operational framework for the management of liquidity risk, market risk and operational risk for P&C companies. Regulatory Compliance & Governance Ensures compliance with the requirements of IFRS Act as the point-person for and leads the implementation of new accounting standards or changes to existing ones for all P&C companies within the Group.

ii) Provides leadership and professional guidance for complex accounting issues, researching the requirements of IFRS and making recommendations on the appropriate accounting treatment. Liaises with Group on Accounting Policy and the Independent Auditor as is required to ensure resolution. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable regional financial regulations. Oversees tax planning and compliance with Caribbean tax legislation. Creates and implements strategies to proactively minimize tax exposure within the P&C companies. ii) Directs and oversees the preparation of and timely filing of Tax Returns. Maintains strong corporate governance and internal controls.

Develops and implements the framework to establish the required level of governance and control over financial reporting, including implementing Service Level Agreements (SLAs), assertions, checklists, error reports and deficiency management processes. Financial Operations & Optimization Directs accounting, treasury, and investment accounting operations. Develops, implements and maintains efficient operating systems, policies and procedures and controls to ensure efficient operations compliant with the appropriate framework. ii) Manages and optimizes the accounting operations, including revenue recognition, reinsurance accounting, accounts receivables, accounts payables, taxation and general ledger. iii) Safeguards the Company’s assets via the system of governance and internal control.

iv) Directs the accurate and timely recognition of the company’s assets and liabilities including statutory and tax obligations, leases, insurance and reinsurance contract arrangements. Ensures timely and accurate settlement within contractual terms. Oversees financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Oversees the preparation of monthly management accounts, reporting templates, compliance reports, annual financial statements for GGIL and subsidiaries in accordance with IFRS. ii) Oversees the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income reports, for internal and external stakeholders. iii) Oversees the preparation of reports for board and audit committee meetings.

Manages the relationships with the Regulatory Bodies and Rating Agencies and ensures clarity on reporting requirements for all territories. Directs the preparation and timely submission of and reviews quarterly and annual returns for all territories and responds to any queries that arise thereon. ii) Directs the preparation and timely submission of and reviews financial reports and data to Rating Agencies, including on AM Best’s online portal. Manages the Internal, Independent and any Regulatory Audits and liaises with internal and external personnel as required to ensure timely completion of audit activities.

Manages the interim and year end external audits ensuring completion within timelines and budget. ii) Act as a stakeholder for internal audits ensuring appropriate responses to findings are provided. Implements cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements. Capital, Cash & Investment Management Manages cash flow and directs and oversees all reporting thereon, including forecasting and oversight of investment portfolio Reviews and maintains the required cash balances for the Company. ii) Monitors the Company’s investment performance, including placement of investments in the respective statutory funds and deposits to maintain balances required for regulatory purposes.

Develops investment strategies to optimize returns while mitigating risk. iii) Monitors the aging of receivables balances and the impact on the cashflow position of the companies. iv) Enforces credit policy and policy cancellations. Manages capital adequacy and solvency requirements. Leadership & Organizational Development Drives financial team performance to achieve Company, Divisional and Departmental objectives. Leads, motivates, inspires and encourages employees through effective performance management – setting of clear goals and objectives, ensuring that performance gaps are closed through relevant training, monitoring of work performance through continuous performance discussions and timely completion of appraisals.

Provide the necessary support and leadership to achieve the team and departmental goals. Fosters a high-performance culture through mentorship and professional development. Develops and rolls out training for team members in the area of insurance and reinsurance accounting, and to the wider organization (Finance for Non-Finance Managers). Any other projects or job duties as assigned by the VP Finance. Education & Experience First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field from a recognized tertiary educational institution. ACCA qualified (as a Fellow / FCCA) Postgraduate qualification in a related field would be considered an asset.

At least 10–15 years in senior finance roles, with experience managing multi-jurisdictional financial teams. Experience in the Caribbean insurance sector, with knowledge of property/casualty insurance/reinsurance accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of Caribbean taxation. Deep understanding of insurance-specific financial regulations, such as IFRS 17, Solvency II, and risk-based capital frameworks. Deep knowledge of IFRS with experience in implementing new IFRS’ within a multi-jurisdictional organisation. Advanced knowledge of financial systems and tools, particularly those enabling cross-border reporting and compliance. Strong history of managing diverse teams and aligning goals across multiple offices or regions. Knowledge of Project and Change Management methodologies.

Additional RequirementAs a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required. Person SpecificationThe Senior Manager – Finance must be confident, assertive, articulate, and a strategic thinker. He/ She should be a clear communicator with the ability to demonstrate logical thinking in order to gather and analyze a variety of information. Excellent interpersonal skills must be inherent as the individual must be able to build and sustain mutually beneficial relationships at all levels throughout the organization. The ideal candidate must possess unwavering and unquestionable professionalism, integrity and commitment to organizational objectives.
