Keywords: Interaction Design · Participatory Design · Lighting Design · Generative AI · Human-AI CollaborationSupervisors: Francesco Dettori, Christian Sandor, Huyen NguyenAbout the InternshipThis 6-month internship for Master’s students is part of MuseoXR, a CNRS-funded project at Team ARAI, LISN, Université Paris-Saclay.At ARAI, we explore how Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence can shape the future of human interaction. This project investigates new tools for collaborative exhibition lighting design.Your role is to design and evaluate interfaces that address the following question:How can we create an interface that allows users with different expertise to communicate and manipulate lighting ideas naturally, and in a way that can be translated into measurable photometric data? What You Will DoConduct participatory and comparative design sessions with both professionals and non-experts. These include collective workshops to observe how ideas are negotiated and individual tasks to explore personal strategies.Analyze how people use drawing, speech, gestures, and image references to describe lighting conditions or desired effects.Develop high-fidelity prototypes of sketch-based, text-based, or combined interfaces that allow users to express lighting without working in 3D.Iterate and evaluate the prototypes through user testing, assessing clarity, control, and how effectively the system can convert input into structured lighting data.Deliver a final prototype that acts as a front-end to our AI system, a shared language between users and models, transforming abstract ideas into photometrically accurate and physically realizable lighting configurations. This work contributes directly to faster, more accessible lighting workflows for museum design teams. What We’re Looking ForSolid foundation in Human-Computer Interaction and user-centered designExperience with interface prototyping (Figma, Adobe XD, or code-based)Interest in participatory design and qualitative methodsFamiliarity with generative AI for images or visual computing is a plusGood communication skills in EnglishPractical Information📍 Location: On-site – Orsay, Île-de-France, France📫 Address: Building 507, Campus Universitaire, Rue du Belvédère, 91405 Orsay📅 Duration: 6 months, full-time — flexible, ideally from 02/03/2026 to 31/08/2026💶 Monthly stipend: 660–700 €👥 Team: ARAI, LISN, Université Paris-Saclay, CNRSFor More Information & ApplicationVisit: https://ar-ai.org/post/internship-museology/
