Job Description
DN Media Group is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to further develop the technology platform and facilitate product development that enhances the experience for our readers and subscribers, while also simplifying and making the everyday work of our colleagues at DN Media Group more efficient.The role of Head of Engineering requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic understanding.Your strategic role:In partnership with the Group management, product managers, and a dedicated team of 30 highly skilled engineers based in Oslo and Bangladesh, you will collectively craft a modern and high performing technological platform supporting key strategic areas We continuously strive for cost-effective solutions and operating models, while simplifying and securing our development workflows. Your day-to-day:Oversee the development and operations of our digital platform, as well as leading a distributed team of Engineers and Tech Leads Be an available leader and develop empowered employees and teams with the needed competence and skills. Foster a positive work culture Play a key role in driving DN Media Group’s digital transformation, fostering an agile organisation and a cultural shift toward DevSecOps — ensuring security, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the entire development lifecycle Be a part of the Product & Technology leadership team and report directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) Close collaboration with colleagues in the leadership teamYour professional and technical competenceProgramming and technology stack – solid understanding of relevant languages, frameworks and tools. At DN Media Group we use: Vue.js, Nuxt.js, Java, Web components, microservice architecture, event driven architecture and cloud solutions (our tech stack is primary operated in AWS) Further develop system architecture and design to secure scalability, security and maintenance Use AI to automate the development process, e.g. testing and verification, deployment, monitoring, code review, etc. Security and Compliance Leadership SkillsCooperation and communication Business stakeholders Contribute to common and transparent plans in Product and Technology Department Structured - be organized and able to prioritize Planning - make realistic plans and timelines Team oriented – with the ability to engage, support and communicate Efficient leadership and collaboration with local and remote teamYour background:Higher education within technology (preferably on Master level) Demonstrated a strong experience in leading development teams, preferably in a distributed setting, showcasing a track record of successful project deliveries In-depth knowledge of digital product development, coupled with an understanding of agile methodologies and DevSecOps-practices Strong communication and presentation skills, enabling clear communication of complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders Given the international profile of our team and the people we work with, it is important that you are fluent in both a Scandinavian language and English Deep understanding of technology to create high value solutions, ensuring technological alignment with organizational objectives Experience or strong interest in enterprise perspective, ranging from business value and operations to information security We will consider applications even if you do not meet every single one of the above requirements, so do not be put off if you don’t match them perfectly!We are an equal opportunities employer who wants to attract qualified applicants regardless to gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, cultural background, social group, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age or political opinion.
