Company overviewBritannia Global Markets provides a wide range of bespoke financial services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, and individuals.With more than 120 years of banking tradition, the group is headquartered in the City of London and maintains offices in major financial centres around the world.OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Financial Crime and Transaction Monitoring to lead our Financial Crime function within a fast-paced brokerage environment. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of AML, CTF, sanctions, and fraud prevention, ensuring the firm operates to the highest regulatory standards while supporting commercial growth.This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on direction of the transaction monitoring and investigations framework, while providing guidance and day-to-day direction to a small team to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide oversight and direction to the team, supporting performance, development, and collaboration.Oversee the firm’s financial crime framework, ensuring policies and procedures remain effective and aligned with FCA and JMLSG requirements.Manage the operation of transaction monitoring systems, including alert handling, escalation, and SAR reporting.Offer subject matter expertise across AML, CTF, sanctions, fraud, and PEP management.Collaborate with trading, operations, and technology teams to optimise monitoring systems and strengthen control effectiveness.Deliver accurate management information (MI) and assurance reporting to senior management, the MLRO, and relevant committees.Lead financial crime risk assessments, ensuring proportionate, risk-based controls across all business areas.Manage relationships with regulators, law enforcement, and other key stakeholders.Support and review enhanced due diligence (EDD) processes for higher-risk clients.Promote awareness and understanding of financial crime risk across the business through engagement and training.Stay informed on regulatory developments and best practices within the brokerage and wider financial services sector.Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in financial crime compliance within a brokerage, trading, or investment services environment.Solid understanding of FCA and MiFID II requirements, AML/CTF regulations, and sanctions obligations.Practical experience with transaction monitoring systems and case management tools.Confident communicator with strong analytical and decision-making skills.Experience providing guidance and oversight to colleagues or small teams.Professional qualifications such as ICA Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention, CAMS, or equivalent are highly desirable.Commercially aware, pragmatic, and able to balance regulatory expectations with business needs.
