Head of General Account Investment

Job Description

This role is classified as Material Risk Personnel (MRP) under the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) guidelines.Roles and Responsibilities:Lead the end-to-end development of investment strategy and solutioning for all Par and Non-Par products, focusing on optimal solutions for HNW products such as Indexed Universal Life (‘IUL”), Universal Life (“UL”) and Platinum series products. Responsible for maximizing investment performances for all asset classes and generating new ideas and new investment strategies to enhance our investment performances to improve the competitiveness of our Par Funds and Non-Par Funds. In charge of key investment processes and activities such as annual strategic planning exercise, yearly remittance optimization, overall investment governance framework update and implementation, investment performance monitoring and reporting and regulatory reporting as well companywide SAA and TAA process for our balance sheet investment. Responsible for all SAA process with ALCO to optimize our investment strategies to support the existing insurance products on our balance sheet and maximise our competitiveness of investment solutions for new product development.Responsible for periodic TAA process to facilitate CIO in making calls on different asset classes based on macro market outlook and market volatilities to generate alpha to further boost our investment performances while managing downside risks. Lead the implementation of Group Investment wide investment initiatives and projects to future proof AIAS CIO Target Operating Model (“TOM”).Lead the overall implementation, updates, and enhancement of AIAS’ Investment Governance Framework, in collaboration with asset managers, Risk and Compliance and Internal Audit.Lead the relationship with all fund managers such as AIA IM and all external fund managers to ensure investment requirements are met, investment performances are sustainable, and risk adjusted investment returns are optimized.Responsible for developing new asset classes, exploring investment opportunities and provide leadership to drive the built up of the private assets through the new AIAVCC set up. Established a semi-middle office function in AIASG Investment team to perform advanced portfolio analytics for internal monitoring and reporting to EXCO, RCE office and Board of Directors. Lead the implementation and operationalization of all AIA Group wide investment infrastructure upgrade such as BlackRock Aladdin, Bloomberg, IBOR, and iLevel, Microsoft BI reporting for AIAS to propel investment management (data analytics and oversight) efficiency.Set the investment objectives, strategies and benchmarks for AIAS and AIAB investment portfolios, and to monitor execution of investment mandate adherences to regulatory, as well as internal limits and overall performances.Lead the development of investment strategies, and proposes new structures, managers, strategies and instruments for AIAS sub-funds based upon their expected contribution under expected market conditions, and the stage of the business cycle.Act as the subject matter expert for all multi-asset classes, focusing on fixed income, listed equity, alternatives and structured products. Act as secretariat of Investment Committees (IC) for AIAS and AIAB, setting agenda, presentations, and monitoring mechanisms with AIAS CIO to Group Investment Committee.Investment lead for cross functional projects within AIAS and AIA Group (such as Long-Term Savings products, Group wide investment infrastructure upgrade and use of derivatives to improve investment management efficiency)Act as the subject matter expert for all investment performances in providing regular updates and training to all agents, brokers/IFAs and Citibank sales channels. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across the whole company, group functions, AIAIM and external asset managers for key issues, cross functional projects, and business process. Responsible for timely and appropriate communication with MAS for all investment related issues.Requirements:EducationAt least a strong bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or economics. Post-graduate degrees and/or additional professional qualifications such as CFA preferred.Experience and key skillsetsMinimum of 15 years strong proven track record as an investment officer focusing on multi-asset in life insurance company or banks, or asset management companies.Relevant investment background with experience in overseeing a substantially sized fund or fund of funds for a major insurer.Good strategic planning abilities with enterprise thinkingProven track record of managing a diverse and high-performance team.Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis relating to portfolio construction, investment strategies, manager selection and performance attribution’.Proven track record in the financial services sector in delivering results on broad asset classes.Adaptive and agile working style while sensitive to different personalitiesAbility to work with senior management, technical and non-technical functions across the organization.Good leadership, team player & customers oriented, effective communication skills, proactive & forward looking, able to work under pressure, sense of urgency & attention to details.Good influencing and negotiation skillsGood problem solving and analytical skillsMust meet MAS "fit and proper" criteria
