By supporting New Zealand businesses, we boost New Zealand's economy and reputation and help to share what's special about New Zealand with the rest of the world.The Australia-Pacific (AusPac) Marketing, Communications and Solutions team supports our customers’ (New Zealand exporters’) evolving needs. We deliver a diverse range of initiatives, spanning marketing campaigns, events, Communications and PR, digital commerce, commercial networks (including NZTE’s Beachheads expert advisory program), research, capability programmes, solutions (including ProjectLink), trade delegations, and digital content. All to support customers in achieving export growth and global commercial success.About the RoleWe’re looking for an inspiring, hands-on leader to head our Marketing, Communications and Solutions team.You will lead a talented and diverse team of seven, delivering integrated, commercially focused initiatives that help New Zealand exporters succeed across a range of sectors. As a key member of the Australia–Pacific Leadership Team, you’ll contribute to regional strategy and planning, aligning priorities with NZTE’s global direction and applying creative, data-driven thinking to how we deliver impact.This is a highly cross-functional leadership role that blends strategic vision with hands-on execution. You’ll foster collaboration across teams and markets, mentor your people to perform at their best, and ensure our work translates into tangible results for our customers.Based in Sydney’s CBD, you’ll work closely with Trade Commissioners and teams across Australia, the Pacific and New Zealand, as well as global peers in Marketing, Communications and Solutions, connecting ideas, markets and opportunities that help New Zealand innovation thrive on the world stage.What You’ll BringProven leadership experience across marketing, communications, or commercial strategy — ideally in complex, global or public–private environments.A track record of building and mentoring high-performing, purpose-driven teams that deliver measurable commercial impact.Deep knowledge of the region, with a strong network and cross-cultural awareness.Strategic and commercially minded: able to balance insight, creativity and execution to drive outcomes.A test-and-learn approach: you experiment, adapt quickly, and continuously improve.The ability to lead through influence, navigate ambiguity, and bring alignment across teams and stakeholders.High emotional intelligence and a genuine passion for connecting people, ideas and opportunities to achieve shared success.Why You’ll Love Working HereAt NZTE, our culture is our superpower.
