Why not come and join us?The School of Engineering of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is seeking a successor for the role ofHead of the Life Sciences Research Institute (80-100%)Position description:As a member of the School of Engineering's management team, contribute to the definition and implementation of its academic and institutional strategyLead the research institute's research and innovation strategy in line with the university's academic priorities and industry needs, in coordination with the head of the degree programmeOversee the academic, financial and operational management of the research instituteEstablish and develop partnerships with industry, academia and public bodies at regional, national and international levelsSupport teams (around 85 staff members) in the development of applied research and innovation projectsContribute to the quality and recognition of the university's research and innovation activitiesWork in close coordination with the head of the degree programme to align research and educationTeach in your area of expertiseSelection criteria:PhD in life sciencesEstablished track record in scientific research and academic publishingAbility to develop and implement a medium- to long-term strategic vision and to anticipate developments in the life sciencesProven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams, communicate effectively and take decisionsStrong understanding of the industrial and institutional landscape in the life sciences at regional, national and international levels; industry experience is an advantageGood understanding of research funding mechanisms and related reporting requirementsFamiliarity with the Swiss tertiary education landscape; teaching experience at the tertiary level is an advantageNative French or German speaker with very good knowledge of the second language and of EnglishFor further information please contact Gaëtan Cherix, director of the School of Engineering of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis (gaetan.cherix(a)hevs.ch).Please submit your complete application documents (CV, motivation letter, diplomas and certificates) by 5 April 2025 by clicking on the Apply button.
