Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re looking for a passionate Health and Safety Coordinator to help keep our teams protected while delivering top-quality civil construction projects.Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting a strong safety culture on civil construction projects. This position ensures compliance with all applicable safety legislation, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements, and assists site management and crews in maintaining safe work environments.What You’ll Do:Implement and maintain the company’s Health & Safety Management System on all civil construction sitesPerform regular site inspections, conduct safety audits, risk assessments, inspections, and incident investigations. Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on implementation.Respond to and assist with all workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries and maintain accurate recordsLead or support investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measuresPrepare and submit incident reports to management and regulatory agencies as requiredCoordinate, track, and deliver toolbox talks, safety meetings, mentorship to employees, and ongoing safety training for site personnel.Maintain records of employee certifications, training, and competencies.Stay up to date with applicable Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and best practices and ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local safety regulationsEnsure all permits, signage, and documentation are current and properly displayed.Collaborate with management to develop, maintain, and implement emergency response plans for project sites.Ensure proper emergency equipment is available and maintained.Track, report, and improve safety performance across all projects.Support project teams in implementing corrective actions for safety concernsChampion a safety-first culture and support management in continuous improvement efforts.What We’re Looking For:Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety is preferredMinimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably in civil constructionKnowledge of civil construction activities (earthworks, utilities, roadwork, heavy equipment, excavation).Strong understanding of applicable provincial/federal Occupational Health & Safety regulations.Valid First Aid and other relevant safety certifications (e.g., confined space, WHMIS, fall protection, fit testing, ground disturbance).Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Sitemax.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.Core Competencies:Proactive and solution-oriented approach to safety issues.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and motivate site personnel on safety mattersAbility to build positive relationships with workers and supervisors.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and reporting skills.Commitment to continuous improvement and promoting a safety-first culture.
