The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct care to patients within the Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC); assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), supporting independence and patient goal acquisition. The HCA demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values of SMHC while adhering to standards of care, policies and procedures.ExperienceExperience providing care to individuals in a mental health setting, or with physical and cognitive impairments is preferredEducation (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)Minimum Grade 10 Successful completion of recognized Health Care Aide course required Qualifications And SkillsDemonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.Demonstrating effective command of the English languageKnowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices and other relevant Workplace Safety and Health requirements/responsibilitiesKnowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and values is preferredAbility to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patientsAbility to respond to a variety of simultaneous demandsAbility to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare teamAbility to adapt quickly to changing situationsAbility to recognize and pursue self-development opportunitiesPhysical RequirementsModerate to heavy physical effort required.
