Health Specialist – Malawi (Lilongwe and other locations – partial remote delivery possible)5-month contract working with and within the Ministry of Health, Malawi, with possibility of extension. Minimum 2-3 months in Malawi.Starts November 2025Open to both National and International candidatesWe are seeking an experienced and motivated consultant with international health systems experience to provide technical assistance (TA) to the Ministry of Health, Department of Planning, to support the District Implementation Planning (DIP) process in 25/26 and recommend improvements to prepare for future years.The consultancy will engage with relevant stakeholders at national and local level across the DIP process to understand current approaches and develop recommendations on ways in which momentum and process can be enhanced in future, including on effective training support that can be provided. It will consider how best to link DIP process, Global Health Initiative investments, and action under the Governments National Health Sector Strategic Plan III effectively. And provide recommendations and suggested next steps to facilitate enhanced cooperation and approaches for future DIP preparation also considering sustainability in a changing donor-partner landscape.Desirable experience includes: Experience of working in a decentralised health system, preferably with knowledge of district planning and facilitation. Experience of working in the health sector in Malawi Health economics and/or health social science background Experience of engaging with global health multilaterals Understanding of Political Economy and drivers of change/reforms in the Health Sector in Malawi Strong analytical ability and stakeholder engagement skills.
