Job OverviewThe Paediatric Allergy Team are a small team predominantly delivering services in the Children's Outpatient Department, RUH.You will have experience of working with children and families and previous health care experience is required.You will be part of a core team delivering allergy person specific care to patients and supporting patients and families. The role predominantly consists of working in outpatient clinic setting, supporting the team in clinic, with clinical admin, some clinical skills to be trained and undertaken once assessed as competent.You will work under the guidance of healthcare professionals such as Registered Nurses and Paediatric Consultants.Training and supervision in all aspects of care will be provided and you will be supported in undertaking Certificate in Care and NVQ qualifications together with other relevant training.Manual dexterity and ability to work in a fast paced environment is essential. You will demonstrate care and compassion through good communication, organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team.You will be willing to learn new skills, such as skin prick testing, and following training or under supervision will compete a variety of clinical admin tasks such as booking children in for food challenges, taking phone messages, setting up clinics, supporting children and their families during clinic appts.Main duties of the jobAs a Healthcare Support Worker you will assist in patient care and other clinic related duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The care you give to patients will be compassionate, caring and high quality. You will carry out routine duties, including activities in which the post holder has been assessed as competent by a Registered Nurse. As a member of the team you will support the other staff and contribute to a team approach to support with patient care in conjunction with nursing colleagues and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
