The successful candidates will be closely aligned with our core values and ethos and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.ResponsibilitiesWith the School employeesAssist school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and to contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the school’s improvement plan and self-evaluation formComply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulationsComply with the school’s Performance Management Policy ensuring challenging annual targets are set and to fulfil the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the principalEngage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of school improvement or performance managementComply with the school’s staff dress code at all times including the wearing of photo ID / lanyard Comply with the school’s computer Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) at all timesAttend all staff briefingsSign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working dayWith the StudentTo develop an understanding of the Additional Educational Needs (AEN) /special Educational Needs of the student/s concernedTo take into account the student/s’ special needs and ensure their access to the lesson and its content through appropriate clarification, explanations, equipment and materialsTo build and maintain successful relationships with student(s), treat them consistently, with respect and considerationTo help reinforce learningTo help promote independent learningTo assist students with physical needsTo help students record work in an appropriate wayTo develop study and organisational skills.To help keep the students on task and to build motivationTo model good practiceTo help build the student/s’ confidence and enhance self-esteemTo maintain liaison with parents regarding student(s) performanceWith the TeacherTo have formal and informal meetings with regard to Teaching and Learning plans for the lesson/activitiesTo prepare materials and resources as requiredTo prepare students beforehand for a taskTo work on differentiated activities with identified groupsTo support the teacher in implementing specific teaching techniquesTo supervise practical tasksTo be involved in keeping records on evaluating the progress of identified students’QualificationsMinimum QualificationsTwo year diploma/degree in education or Special Needs education or to have a high school diploma with a special needs education programe.Minimum ExperienceAt least 2 years of experience in the same field.Job Specific Knowledge & SkillFluent English language communication skills, written and oral.Strong interpersonal skills.A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
