Job DescriptionJob Title: Home Assistant Automation EngineerLocation: Lagos, Nigeria (Hybrid - On-site & Remote)Type: Full-TimeReports To: Director of Technology Integration / CEOAbout Patobe Smart HomesPatobe Smart Homes delivers ultra-premium automation systems to the world's elite.We're now building the most resilient and scalable smart home engineering division in Africa, and we're looking for a skilled Home Assistant Automation Engineer to help us do it.Role Overview-To join our home assistant automation system team-You will be responsible for co-deploying, co-managing, and scaling smart home control systems using Home Assistant, Zigbee and other related architecture. You'll work alongside our R&D team. You will also train and collaborate with the IT team and field technicians.This role is for someone who loves to solve problems, document processes, and build stable, beautiful, automation systems that just work...even offline.Key Responsibilities-Install, configure, and manage Home Assistant OS on Raspberry Pi or HA Yellow platforms-Set up Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA integrations for device onboarding-Build custom Lovelace dashboards, etc for tablets, panels, and mobile-Translate user needs into automation logic (using Node-RED or YAML, etc)-Collaborate with R&D to organise existing projects-Co-train internal IT staff and installers on HA structure and support-Back up and version all projects via GitHub or localNAS-Maintain and improve reusable scenes and automation templates-Implement secure remote access (DuckDNS, Tailscale, etc.)-Troubleshoot real-world bugs quickly and cleanly in active installsRequired Skills & Experience-2+ years experience with Home Assistant and other smart home/automation platforms/tools in live deployments-Proven use of Zigbee dongles (Sonoff, Conbee, ZigStar, etc.)-Strong experience with Node-RED or YAMLautomations-Comfort working in homes with Wi-Fi + Zigbee + IP cameras + Tuya devices + Home Assistant + Voice Assistants-Documentation mindset...your setups must be team friendly and repeatable-Bonus: Experience integrating inverters, sensors, smart locks, and other smart home systemsWhat Success In This Role Looks Like in 90 Days-Master Patobe's existing HA smart home projects-Document and reverse-engineer existing client installations-Build 3 reusable scene templates + 1 reusable dashboard set-Train technical and non-technical team members to replicate installs-Deploy projects fully in record timePerks & Culture-Build custom innovative and luxury systems for the world's top 1%-Operate with full creativity and dedication-Learn from other innovators and business thinkersBe part of Africa's most ambitious smart home empireTo Apply:Send your portfolio or examples of smart home designs/installations/projects you've worked on (video/photos/github) and a short paragraph on why Smart Home Automation excites you to:hiring@patobesmarthomes.comPatobe is shaping the future of smart living - and this is your chance to build it with us.Compensation & Benefits1.
