You will be a permanent employee.You will attract a salary of dependant on experience and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remoteClose Date: 16/11/2025.We Also Provide The Following Additional Benefits25 Days Annual Leave plus bank holidays.Reservist Leave – Additional 18 days full pay and 22 unpaidPrivate Medical Cover, and Simply HealthPersonal Pension Plan – Personal contribution rates of 4% or 5% (UK Power Networks will make a corresponding contribution of 8% or 10%)Tenancy Loan Deposit Scheme, Season Ticket LoanTax efficient benefits: Cycle to Work, Home & Tech, and Green Car Leasing SchemesOccupational Health supportSwitched On – scheme providing discount on hundreds of retailers' productsDiscounted gym membershipEmployee Assistance ProgrammeJob PurposeAs the HR Advisor you will report into the HR Operations Manager and sit within the centre of excellence for the provision of professional guidance and support to line managers on the management of cases, which arise from the application of people management policies and practice (covering sickness absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance improvement, discrimination, bullying & harassment, redeployment and redundancy).Main InterfacesDaily interfaces will be with managers who require support from the HR Operations team on people management policies and procedures.The HR Advisor will work with Trade Union and employee representatives, HRBPs and Stakeholders (management and supervisory level).Other internal interfaces include HR Services, Payroll, Pensions, Legal and Occupational Health.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide advice, guidance, documentation and structured case management support to business managers.Ensure that all case management is recorded on HR systems to support weekly management reporting.Manage all case work following HR policy and procedures, tracking progress following defined timescales. Offering solutions to move cases to a conclusion.Provide advice to managers on aspects of employment law, terms and conditions, HR policy and procedures.Undertake project work and tasks as assigned by the HR Operations Manager, providing regular updates on progress and timelines.Support managers with resolving governance and audit findings.Validate and quality check all employment change requests submitted by managers through My UKPN and any queries are discussed with the HR Operations Manager before approving.Responsible for monitoring and recording sickness absence management and poor performance within the business, coaching managers to progress their cases through all stages of the procedure.Support Managers with the management of long-term sickness together with Occupational Health advice.Demonstrate positive customer service behaviours through the provision of a seemless HR Operational service to the business, ensuring that cover is provided when colleagues are absent. All issues raised via phone, face to face and email are acknowledged and responded to within a timely manner.Improve manager capability by identifying where local managers need coaching and support with HR procedures, delivering workshops or local coaching sessions as required and evaluating its effectiveness.Ensure SAP HR is updated and maintained.Contribute to the development of HR policies and procedures and participating on working groups when requested.For those trained, participate in job evaluation panels when requested.Manage relationships with Trade Union and employee representatives, to ensure effective case management processesMaintain reporting systems and provide management information when requested, to ensure consistency of approach and outcome.Perform the welfare co-ordinator and/or call agent roles as advised during system emergencies.Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications And ExperienceYou must be Chartered Member of the CIPD or undertaking CIPD studies with previous HR experience.You will have experience dealing with a range of complex HR issues and be able to apply relevant techniques to situations gained from previous HR generalist and/or operational rolesKnowledge of employment law and HR policy and best practiceYou will be able to build relationships and influence at all levels whilst communicating with a diverse client groupA track record in developing practical and effective solutions to HR issues and effective delivery of projects and servicesA tenacious personality ability to see problems through to the end.Use SAP to compile and analyse reports.Research, analyse and reason logically on time sensitive casesA commitment to providing excellent customer service.Job DimensionsAlthough you will not be responsible for a budget, the advice provided by the HR Advisors has an impact on business budgets and financial performance e.g. Risk of Employment Tribunals.The HR Advisor is a professionally qualified practitioner supporting the business with their people related matters and must be able provide accurate and consistent advice to managers and staff.
