Position SummaryThe HR Specialist plays a vital role in supporting HavenSmart’s people and culture initiatives. This position manages payroll processing, benefits administration, and new hire onboarding while contributing to engagement programs that foster satisfaction, morale, and retention. The HR Specialist is a trusted partner to employees and leaders, ensuring an exceptional employee experience aligned with HavenSmart’s values and culture. The HR Specialist will work from one of our 4 offices: Tampa, FL; Sarasota, FL; Denver, NC or Eatonton, GA.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & HR AdministrationProcess bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, including commissions, expense reimbursements, and bonuses, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Review and audit timecards, deductions, and pay changes to maintain accuracy and data integrity.Maintain HRIS records and personnel files in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.Support year-end reporting, including W-2s and other payroll-related filings.Benefits AdministrationServe as the primary contact for employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).Administer new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment.Partner with benefits carriers and brokers to resolve employee inquiries and ensure timely service delivery.Track eligibility and contributions; assist with ACA reporting and related compliance tasks.Recruiting, Onboarding & Employee TransitionsSupport recruiting efforts by reviewing resumes, conducting initial screenings, and coordinating interviews.Coordinate and manage the onboarding process to ensure a positive and seamless new hire experience.Conduct new hire orientation sessions and support the integration of employees into the HavenSmart culture.Support offboarding processes, including exit interviews and system terminations.Engagement, Culture & MoraleAssist in developing and implementing initiatives that promote connection, recognition, and HavenSmart’s “One HavenSmart” culture.Support communication campaigns, recognition programs, and morale-building activities.Partner with HR leadership to collect feedback through surveys, stay interviews, and engagement touchpoints.Contribute creative ideas for maintaining a positive, inclusive, and high-energy workplace.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.2+ years of HR experience with emphasis on payroll, benefits, and employee engagement.Strong knowledge of HRIS systems (Paycom experience preferred).Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and payroll practices.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
