Job Description

Terms of Reference (TOR)Position: IP Network Engineer Duration: 3-Year Contract Location: The Gambia (Relocation Required) Reports to: Technical DirectorSUBMIT: ffofana@insistnet. gmJob Summary: The IP Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the company's international IP transit and core backbone network. The role demands strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage a diverse team. Key Responsibilities: ·    Design, build, and maintain the international IP transit and core backbone network infrastructure. ·    Manage and configure routers and switches, including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, IP Infusion, and Mikrotik equipment.

·    Configure and optimize network protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VXLAN, spanning tree, and other relevant protocols. ·    Monitor network performance and security using tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, and other network diagnostic tools. ·    Manage, configure, and monitor firewalls to maintain optimal security posture. ·    Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution. ·    Oversee and support the FTTH fiber network operations. ·    Collaborate with relevant teams to address infrastructure-related issues, such as power supply and cabling. ·    Mentor, train, and manage a technical team of 4 people from diverse cultural backgrounds. ·    Provide regular reporting and feedback to senior management. Required Qualifications and Experience:

·    Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing and building IP networks. ·    Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VXLAN, and spanning tree. ·    Proven experience with multiple network hardware vendors including Cisco, Juniper, IP Infusion, and Mikrotik. ·    Strong skills in network security and firewall management. ·    Experience using diagnostic and monitoring tools such as Wireshark and Nmap, observium, etc. ·    Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, particularly in multicultural environments. ·    Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively resolve technical issues. Desirable Skills: ·    Understanding and experience with FTTH fiber network technologies. ·    Proficiency with Linux operating systems. Personal Attributes:

Other Requirements: ·    Willingness to relocate to The Gambia for the duration of the contract. ·    Ability to provide on-call support as required.
