Mediclinic is an international private healthcare services group, founded in South Africa in 1983, with divisions in Switzerland, Southern Africa (South Africa and Namibia) and the United Arab Emirates.The Group is focused on providing specialist-orientated, multidisciplinary services across the continuum of care in such a way that the Group will be regarded as the most respected and trusted provider of healthcare services by patients, medical practitioners, funders and regulators of healthcare in each of its markets.MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBTo ensure the implementation and maintenance of a functional Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme at the hospital levelKEY RESPONSIBILITY AREASIdentify, mitigate and manage risks related to Infection Prevention andControlInvestigate, analyse and interpret clinical data and act upon findingsEnsure adherence to statutory bodiesIdentify training needs in the hospital and provide input in the development of training materialInfluence and equip hospital teams to understand and comply to IPCpolicies and principlesProvide support with patient safety and quality improvement initiatives inthe absence of the Patient Safety ManagerContinuous professional developmentRequired EducationESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Nursing qualification (degree or diploma)DESIRED EDUCATION: Formal IPC course / Post Graduate diploma inIPCRequired ExperienceESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years working in a hospital environment as a professional healthcare practitionerDESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1 – 2 years IPC related work, supervision of asmall teamRequired Job Skills And KnowledgeConducting a system analysis of healthcare,associated infections and institute preventative measuresInterpretation and application of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) definitionsAuditing (e.g. compliance to hand hygiene and environmental cleaning audits)Computer literate (Microsoft Office)IPC surveillance and risk identificationReport writing skillsIdentification; investigation and management of outbreaksUnderstanding and application of relevant IPC principlesData analysis and interpretationKnowledge of relevant statutory requirements and accreditation standardsKnowledge and experience in quality improvement methodology
