Infrastructure Engineer (Network, Storage)

Client: Tier 1 Global BrandRate: Strong rate on offer (EURO)Duration: 6 months initially, view to extendLocation: Budapest 2 day, remote 3 daysWe are hiring a Senior Network & Linux Engineer to support the delivery of a next-generation virtualisation and automation platform. This role focuses on designing and integrating networking components across large-scale datacentre environments, ensuring reliable connectivity, security, and performance for virtualised workloads. Strong Linux engineering experience is essential, and VMware knowledge is considered a plus.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and support datacentre network solutions underpinning virtualised and cloud-ready environments.Configure and troubleshoot switching, routing, firewalls, and network services across multi-vendor platforms.Integrate networking with Linux-based compute environments, ensuring reliable communication across the full stack.Support the deployment and validation of new infrastructure hardware and firmware.Contribute to network automation initiatives using Python, Ansible, or similar tools.Work closely with virtualisation, storage, and platform engineering teams to align architecture and standards.Perform network performance analysis, capacity planning, and security hardening.Maintain documentation, engineering standards, and operational procedures.Required SkillsStrong hands-on experience with enterprise networking: routing, switching, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, firewalls.Solid Linux engineering skills (network stack, system services, troubleshooting).Experience supporting large-scale datacentre or virtualised environments.Understanding of network automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, Bash).Strong analytical and diagnostics capability across connectivity, performance, and configuration issues.VMware/vSphere/NSX experience is a plus.Preferred SkillsFamiliarity with software-defined networking (SDN).Experience with multi-datacentre integrations and HA network design.Exposure to virtualisation platforms (VCF, vSphere, vSAN).Understanding of infrastructure security and segmentation best practices.
