Job DescriptionInstrumentation TechnicianPermanent, full-time role with competitive remuneration and benefitsLocation Wellington - Upper Hutt, New ZealandCareer growth Build your expertise in a secure, expanding industryProfessional development Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, evolving roleAs an Instrumentation Technician, you keep site operations safe, compliant and efficient by delivering reliable maintenance, calibration and technical support. You maximise equipment reliability, minimise downtime and help meet production and testing schedules.You contribute to Engineering and Maintenance goals by owning your work, continually building your technical and troubleshooting skills, collaborating with technicians, engineers and production teams, and maintaining high standards for execution, documentation and GMP compliance.What You Will DoResponsibilities include, however not limited to Technical Execution and Operational SupportMaintain and calibrate instrumentation and equipment to schedules, SOPs and GMP requirementsPlan and complete daily tasks with the maintenance scheduler, supervisor and operationsRespond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and implement fixes to minimise downtime and product impact (including on‑call support)Support planned shutdowns and major maintenance activitiesDocumentation, Quality and GMP ComplianceComplete maintenance and calibration records to Good Documentation PracticeRecord equipment failures, corrective actions and investigation outcomesSupport audits, inspections and required training for your systems and equipmentContinuous Improvement Identify and investigate equipment issues, deviations and recurring faultsApply structured problem solving (e.g. root cause analysis)Help implement corrective and preventative actions and suggest improvements to maintenance, reliability, safety and costLeadership and CollaborationWork closely with technicians, engineers and production to resolve issues and meet site prioritiesShare knowledge on the job and support team initiativesChallenge existing processes where you see opportunities to improve quality, safety or efficiencyWhat You Must HaveRecognised engineering qualification or trade certificate in a relevant disciplinePractical instrumentation and calibration experience in an industrial or process environmentExperience with electrical equipment and PLCs (e.g. wiring level transmitters, flowmeters)Strong problem‑solving skills, including data and trend analysis for troubleshootingHigh attention to detail with accurate, compliant technical documentationClear verbal and interpersonal communication and effective teamwork skillsCompetence with Microsoft applications and basic computer systemsWillingness to participate in an on‑call roster and support future shift patternsAbility to work in a controlled, regulated environment (GMP or ISO‑regulated production preferred)Experience (Advantageous)Pneumatics / hydraulicsRefrigeration / HVAC systemsUtilities such as water, steam, gas and compressed airGMP/GLP or ISO 9000 in a pharmaceutical or highly regulated production environmentStructured problem‑solving tools (e.g. fishbone analysis, HOP)Additional Microsoft tools (e.g. Project, Access)What You Can ExpectReal ownership of your work, backed by a trusted, global leader in animal health that values your technical expertiseOngoing training, mentoring and exposure to new technologies to deepen your instrumentation and maintenance skillsFlexibility and clear pathways to grow into broader engineering, reliability or project roles as your experience developsA hands‑on, supportive team of technicians and engineers who share knowledge, solve problems together and celebrate winsWe are proud to be a company that embraces the value of bringing talented and committed people together.
