Job Description

Location: RemoteType: Part-Time (15-25 hours/week initially, scaling to Full-Time as business grows)About the RoleWe're looking for an Internal Accountant to own our financial accounting, reporting, and compliance across a multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction structure. This is the primary finance role responsible for ensuring our books are accurate, our financial statements are reliable, and our executive team has clear visibility into business performance.You'll work with holding companies, subsidiaries, and operations across multiple countries, managing the full accounting cycle from transaction recording through financial statement preparation. This role requires both technical accounting competence and the ability to translate financial data into clear insights for decision-making.As the business grows, this role will scale from part-time to full-time, with potential to build out a finance function.Key ResponsibilitiesCore Accounting•⁠  ⁠Maintain accurate books in QuickBooks across multiple entities and jurisdictions•⁠  ⁠Record and categorize transactions across multiple bank accounts and currencies•⁠  ⁠Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow tracking•⁠  ⁠Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions•⁠  ⁠Ensure proper coding and allocation across entities, cost centers, and projectsFinancial Reporting & Analysis•⁠  ⁠Calculate revenue, gross margin, and net margin accurately across entities•⁠  ⁠Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)•⁠  ⁠Track key financial metrics and identify trends or anomalies•⁠  ⁠Produce clear executive summaries that highlight business performance, concerns, and opportunities•⁠  ⁠Provide analysis that supports strategic and operational decision-makingMulti-Entity & Compliance•⁠  ⁠Manage accounting for holding companies and subsidiary structures•⁠  ⁠Ensure proper intercompany accounting and eliminations•⁠  ⁠Understand and apply appropriate accounting treatment across jurisdictions•⁠  ⁠Coordinate with external accounting firms for audits, tax preparation, and compliance•⁠  ⁠Maintain documentation and audit trails that meet professional standards•⁠  ⁠Support tax filings and regulatory requirements as neededCollaboration & Communication•⁠  ⁠Serve as primary point of contact for financial questions and reporting requests•⁠  ⁠Interface with external accountants, bookkeepers, and tax advisors•⁠  ⁠Translate complex accounting issues into plain language for non-finance stakeholders•⁠  ⁠Provide financial context and guardrails for business planningRequired Experience•⁠  ⁠Hands-on experience with QuickBooks (QuickBooks Online preferred)•⁠  ⁠Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals: revenue recognition, accrual accounting, financial statement preparation•⁠  ⁠Experience working with multi-entity structures and intercompany accounting•⁠  ⁠Ability to calculate and track margins, unit economics, and profitability•⁠  ⁠Comfortable managing transactions across multiple currencies and jurisdictions•⁠  ⁠Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy•⁠  ⁠Ability to work independently and manage your own deadlines•⁠  ⁠Clear written and verbal communication skills for executive reportingNice to Have•⁠  ⁠Experience with international banking and multi-currency accounting•⁠  ⁠Familiarity with holding company and subsidiary accounting structures•⁠  ⁠Background working with tech startups or high-growth companies•⁠  ⁠Experience coordinating with external CPA firms for audits or tax•⁠  ⁠Knowledge of tax implications across different jurisdictions•⁠  ⁠CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification•⁠  ⁠Experience with other accounting or financial tools (Bill.com, Expensify, etc.)What This Isn'tThis role is focused on accurate accounting and clear reporting, not:•⁠  ⁠High-level CFO strategy work (at least initially)•⁠  ⁠Tax planning or complex structuring advice (we'll use external specialists)•⁠  ⁠Fundraising, investor relations, or financial modeling (unless the role evolves there)Why This Role MattersAccurate books and clear financial visibility aren't glamorous, but they're foundational. The structure exists for business and operational reasons, and we need someone who can manage it competently without creating unnecessary complexity.This role starts part-time because we're right-sizing for current scale, but the right person will grow into a full finance leadership role as the business expands.
